KRABI, June 19 -- Thailand’s Southern province of Krabi has prepared to cope with natural disasters, including floods, landslides, earthquakes and tsunamis in coastal areas.

Krabi Governor Prasit Osathanon chaired a meeting Thursday at Krabi Provincial Hall with agencies concerned in a collaboration to prevent, prepare and respond to natural disasters, such as floods, landslides, earthquakes and tsunamis.

According to reports, Krabi officials completed provincial action plans for disaster prevention and response to floods, landslides, earthquakes and tsunamis in 2014, believing it will ensure a quick response to such natural disasters.

The Krabi governor told participants not to be alarmed by rumours shared on social networking websites that a tsunami might occur in the six southern Andaman coastal provinces as early as tomorrow through June 25 or in July 2014. He said that tsunamis cannot be forecast but can only occur after earthquakes, which also cannot be predicted.

Mr Prasit asked concerned agencies to clarify confusion among local residents and to set up the centres for disaster management to be in full operation within 30 minutes of an earthquake's occurrence, at both district and provincial levels. (MCOT online news)

In what ways is chairing a meeting sufficient to be considered "prepared" to face all these natural catastrophes ???

We had cancellations from some BKKers that were planning to stay in our Aonang hotel on the 23rd.

"We scare tsunami, no come now".

Well if you're not smart enough to filter the <deleted> you read on FB then so be it
