June 30, 201411 yr AIRLINE INDUSTRYTHAI will move to Heathrow Terminal 2 in AugustThe NationBANGKOK: -- Thai Airways International (THAI) on Monday announced that its planned move from London's Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 to Zone A of Terminal 2 has been postponed to August.Initially, the move was planned to take place on July 2.THAI said in a statement that the delay is due to Heathrow Airport’s scheme to conduct unplanned testing of Heathrow's baggage systems.Until the new move date, flights will depart as normal from Heathrow Terminal 3."THAI's postponed move will allow Heathrow Terminal 2's baggage systems to be further trialed and tested to ensure that it works properly. Journey times will not be affected and the Company apologizes for any inconvenience caused. THAI looks forward to welcoming passengers to the new London Heathrow Terminal 2 in the near future," it said.Source: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/THAI-will-move-to-Heathrow-Terminal-2-in-August-30237423.html-- The Nation 2014-06-30
June 30, 201411 yr As T2 was only opened by HM E-II last week, it is eminently sensible for TG to wait a month until the gremlins have been flushed out of the new systems before relocating terminals.
June 30, 201411 yr OK....so no more at Swampy then Thai---move to Manchester also, get your act together.

That is a downgrade for airlines that don't cut the numbers. I used to work at Heathrow before anyone decides to chime in. Hope they enjoy rubbing shoulders with the budget airlines.
June 30, 201411 yr Haven't flown on TG for a long time now. Couldn't get a seat. All filled up with directors' wives, families, chefs, gardeners and friends.

Hope they enjoy rubbing shoulders with the budget airlines. Maybe it was considered a downgrade in your time, but it's the new hub for the Star Alliance members, I think 23 will be using it. I've only seen it on TV, they hosted Question Time there a few weeks ago, but it looks pretty impressive to me. theoldgit

June 30, 201411 yr OK....so no more at Swampy then Thai---move to Manchester also, get your act together. Wow...you mean Manchester has an airport now??? Little used Emirates--Etihad--Turkish--Amongst the favourites in aviation. Direct rail to my home. Love it.
June 30, 201411 yr Wonder if EVA are postponing their move as well - anybody know? They're still planning to move from T3 to T2 this week. theoldgit

June 30, 201411 yr I would be more interested to read that Thai had become a competitive, well equipped and well run airline. It matters not which Heathrow terminal you fly out of when you're running a shambles.

Never mind St. Mary will keep you from harm. better than the amulet things in general.--is it open at w/ends now-Southampton ??? I know they did re-build after the war. When you compare the likes of Emirates, Gatwick Heathrow Birmingham Manchester Newcastle---Scotland/Ireland. and Thai with it's high prices, no wonder other airlines are racing past them. Thai -your prices are to expensive.

They arnt given a choice, they do as they are told, where and when to move and what gate etc etc. Just like all airlines other than BA. There is a system at Heathrow and its pretty well worked out on passenger numbers and other reasons, Im not sure but think T2 is a second tier budget type/ second quality airline terminal.
July 1, 201411 yr How can the newly-rebuilt just-reopened Terminal-2 possibly be regarded as in-any-way second-rate ? Surely BAA haven't spent GBP 2.5-billion, on a second-rate/budget-terminal, and then deliberately moved all of the Star-Alliance airlines into it ? I agree that the old terminal-2 was run-down, but the new one, too ?
