Thai police removed after video exposes traffic fine misconduct
Has anyone ever had a 'traffic fine' that has not been 'collected' in this manner ???? The only issue here is the is that it was caught on video... ... whoever published the video might now expect to be charged with brining Thailand into disrepute and some made up crime of filming and official and that being a breach of the computer crimes act or some such similar face saving measure... -

"Flat Earther" finally admits the Earth isn't flat
Thank you Rattlesnake !!! I now understand how the staunch opposition on AN and elsewhere have difficulty following the so-called "anti vax narrative" . Why , it must be about as baffling as that video was to me . I guess I might have been able to figure it out if i tried hard enough ...... but Nah..... i just dutifully put my laughing emoji down (number nine ) so as to fit in with the crowd . 😄😄 Now , as soon as i can figure out how to straighten out my writing ......... i will wait for Lacessit to help explain it all to me . He ALWAYS knows everything .....about everything. And ALWAYS lets us know ! May the heliocentric force be with you..... mi amigo ! -

Home-Country Ghosts of Christmas Past: Do you miss them?
The last Christmas I even celebrated was in 1990 when I came home from university for the holiday. I had bought my mother an answering machine as she was frequently out of the house. Upon opening it, she scoffed and said “I’ll never use an answering machine” She then presented me with my present. My parents had just returned from a trip to Scandinavia and she got me a Norwegian wool sweater almost identical to the one pictured below…in her size…not mine. She knew I wouldn’t like it so she kept it for herself. Pretty pathetic that she’d buy her son a woman’s sweater (maybe it’s a man’s sweater in Norway but certainly not in Southern California)….but I guess it was better than the year that she gave the all the children Trident chewing gum and large plastic paper clips. I kept the answering machine -

Crackdown in Jomtien, Pattaya, nabs over 50 for drug offences
Photo via KhaoSod By Ryan Turner A major crackdown operation dubbed Purge the Parasites Part 2 was conducted in Jomtien, Pattaya, targeting crime and drug-related offences. Over 50 individuals involved in drug possession and consumption were apprehended during the raid, which took place yesterday, December 22. The operation was spearheaded by Tawatchai Jindakawornsanong, the Chon Buri Provincial Police Commander. The operation involved a massive deployment of over 900 officers from several agencies, including the Provincial Police Region 2, Chon Buri Provincial Investigation Division, Immigration Bureau, and the Royal Thai Navy, among others. The operation aimed at eradicating crime in all its forms, particularly focusing on drug-related offences within the Jomtien community, specifically in Soi 2, 3, and 4 of Moo 12, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. KhaoSod noted that Jomtien has previously been in the spotlight for rampant drug trafficking, with dealers operating openly. Despite previous efforts to clamp down on illegal activities, the area remained a hub for drug-related crimes. The targetted community consists primarily of five-and-a-half-storey shophouses, with the ground floors serving various businesses like beer bars, restaurants, laundries, and massage parlours. The upper floors have been converted into accommodation, while the rear of the community features makeshift shelters constructed from wood and corrugated metal roofing. During the operation, police cut internet and communication signals and disconnected water and electricity in certain areas before conducting a thorough search of the premises. Officers were deployed to inspect different locations within the residential buildings, searching for illegal items, including firearms and drug paraphernalia. Residents were also subjected to urine tests for narcotics. The sudden nature of the raid caught many off guard, with some rooms discovered to have individuals actively consuming methamphetamine and exhibiting signs of hallucination, while others were found with crystal meth in their possession Those who admitted to recent drug use were taken for drug testing, with users being directed to rehabilitation, while those found with drugs were prosecuted according to the law. More than 50 people were arrested for drug possession and consumption during the operation. Tawatchai further explained that this initiative is part of a comprehensive plan dubbed the Jomtien Soi 3 Model, which involves thoroughly rooting out both drug dealers and users. The strategy includes exhaustive searches and plans for future prevention measures to ensure that similar incidents do not recur in the area. Source: The Thaiger -- 2024-12-23 -

Extension OA Retirement based on income
Hi all. Previous years I've extended OA Retirement based on 800K bank balance method. Today I extended based on Income and I do have required 800K as well. Should have asked the IO but didn't so I'm a little unclear if I need to maintain any balances in my bank account, ie 3 months after or 2 months before next extension. I hope to extend based on Income from now on. Done at Immigration Div 1 Chaeng Wattana. Made an appointment on line and was walking out after only 1 hour. Not a terrible experience. Thank you everyone. -

Child Dies in SUV Crash on Chiang Mai Mountainside
Or it was an auto and it failed... could be many reason. But, I'm wondering why the brakes didn't hold... is this one of those times there was brake failure but its not been used as an excuse ? Its so very tragic that they lost their child... but again, Thai authorities persist on taking such a slack approach to road safety and these are the consequences.- 1
