Yes yes yes... He drove at high speed straight away into the pillar alone...maybe after the phone call he wanted to suicide!! Those "investigations" by the "police" are done very quickly in order to close the case and avoid more work, it's a farang after all! The fact that the accident has been caused by a third party vehicle is not taken in account nor investigate.

Sure can't rule out suicide.

What third party vehicle?

I do not understand why it should be important to name the police officer, when he was notified (and that he or he and officers x an y rushed to the scene as in many other reports)

I find this quite common here.

Just reporting the incident would do very well

I think he was unlucky. not many places along there where you can actually hit a pillar without hitting a concrete barrier first.

Need one of those amulets for guaranteed invincibility. If it works for immortality in a luxury car, ought to work on concrete??

Probably a cell phone picture from one of the rubberneckers standing around...notice no one is attempting to help/comfort the guy...but maybe all the bystanders were doctors and knew the poor soul was definitely dead so no need to comfort. RIP

I had a cousin do that just after getting his final divorce papers - drove right into the pillar of an underpass. He was not killed, but he was severely disabled (mentally and physically - with no memory before accident)... pretty sure that was a suicide attempt so it is not that unusual. When I first read it the actions seem to indicate suicide.

The guy drove head on into the pillar. Busted legs and head. Look at the damage to the front of the bike, the front wheel is jammed back into the engine.

Don't need to be a doctor to see brain matter.

Exactly. Crash helmet? Not a very sure way of committing suicide.

We should all know by now that when farang die here it is always suicide. And hopes this puts to rest idea that locals are only idiots in LOS.

It could have been a suicide. A friend of mine who sadly had mental helath problems, drove his car straight into a concrete bridge pillar on a straight piece of highway. They found his suicide note in the backseat of the car.

Nobody knows (except the wife perhaps) and anyway this does not help on the grief and loss for this guy's family.

it could simply be an unmindful act and an accident. And the Thai wife whom he was arguing, wont be required to argue anymore. Poor fellow.

Pip, read before you open your mouth, it said he died later, must have been alive and died later after the collision or in the hospital.

It only took 4 post

Yes the Thai Visa Bar Stool Crime Scene Investigators (BS-CSI) are on duty 24/7.

Far better that medically unqualified people rush up, pat him on the head and shift him around to make sure they cause as much further damage as possible following an accident that he might have otherwise survived.

Don’t move the victims unless they’re in immediate danger. Many car accidents inflict neck or spine injuries to the victim and movement could make injuries worse. If the victim is in imminent danger (like a car fire), and you can move the victim without causing injury to yourself, do so while avoiding unnecessary bending or twisting the neck, body or limbs. For example, if you find the victim with legs crossed, move him with his legs crossed. The sharp edges of broken bones can cause internal damage if they’re moved around. Dragging the victim is better than trying to lift him or her by yourself. The best way to drag the victim is by his or her clothes above the shoulders or by the ankles.

Notwithstanding the gravity of the incident, why, oh why, do the Pattaya papers persist in scouring the Oxford English for the most inane phrasing? And what is the relevance of the licence plate?
