As I have posted about before I had a problem with ingrown big toe toenails a while back.

I believe they were caused by a combination of genetics and the type of pedicures commonly given in Thailand which are more about cosmetics than health. Of course the pedicures involved removing the cuticles and NOT cutting the nails straight.

To prevent ingrown toenails, the toenails should be cut with a STRAIGHT tool, not too short, and the cuticles NOT removed.

Well, I was about to go in for likely surgery but decided to try out some home care methods.

Well, for the most part they worked and I have been able to avoid surgery and pain. It was a slow process to get to this point and I reckon a lot of people wouldn't have had the patience I did ... but I am here to tell you sometimes these problems can be solved without surgery.

Of course since then I have never gone back to a pedicurist here and never will.

Anyway, this thread is about how to cut your toenails straight you need a straight toenail clipper.

The trouble is I have never seen one for sale in Thailand.

Luckily, I had a cheap one already that was good enough but not great.

Recently I was able to import a much better quality one.

It's a world of difference to have a quality tool!

For those who are concerned with potential ingrown toenail issues, I would recommend buying such a tool when you can when outside Thailand.

Also, this would be the place for people to post any SOURCES of straight cutting toenail clippers (good quality or not) IN Thailand.

Thanks for your interest.

Here is the brand that I bought for about 8 U.S. dollars at amazon.com. Yes not the cheapest nail clipper but for me so worth it.
