Question about "30 days under consideration"

Featured Replies

Hi,

I want to double check something...

Today my wife & I went in for my yearly extension to stay

based on marriage.

All went pretty smooth but in the end something new

instead of just waiting for passport with 30 day under consideration stamp...

We were asked to go in back & see a male officer

Basically seemed like a check of marriage validity.

Usual type questions of where we live do we own or rent etc.

Anyway....He said come back on September 26th 2014

Then gave me someones passport. My wife pointed out wrong passport

so he grabbed mine & we left.

Then I was wondering is Sept 26th correct

Or should I be going back around August 26th?

My yearly extension expires Aug 27th 2014

Is that correct? I go on September 26th? After current extension

is expired due to 30 day deal being active?

Sorry confused...again :)

But because of the passport mix up I thought I would double check

Thanks for any clarification given.

it seems pretty clear he screwed up .. go sort it tomorrow

They may of changed policy and are starting the 30 days at the end of your extension instead of when you apply. Many offices already do it that way.

All of my 30 days have been from the end of my extension..

You know now I am thinking he may be right.

My memory is going but....Isn't that how they always do it?

Because they basically keep you from losing a month off your extension?

Looking back at my last few years stamps they all say

expire Aug 27th but appear in Sept 27

Confusing as always :)

I think your right Ubon

After posting I looked back in my passport & last two years was

also Sept 26th

hahah how many years I wonder will it take till

I get the hang of it smile.png

Last year i was given a time of 6 weeks for under consideration (Khon Kaen)

they said HQ very busy.

My report dates or expiry dates did not alter

Its been in the back of my mind that lately they may be busy due to the change

in rules and a lot of marriage extensions being applied for....(just me thinking)

I have to go again on 7th August to renew again, so see what happens then.

Have a Nice Day.

You probably did your extension two weeks before your extension ended. It seems to be region 4''s policy that they start the 30 days from the end of your permit to stay date.

My extension was approved by region 4 headquarters in Korat 8 days after I applied last August.

In Chiang Rai my visa dates stay the same regardless of going in a week or two early but the under consideration process is never more than 30 days. I would error on the side of caution and check the dates in advance.

Did he orally tell you Sept 26 or is that what the stamp in your passport says? It sounds like the guy was having a bad day, so again, I would check to make sure.

I'm off to try and do my first extension based on marriage right now in mae sai. I'll add my comments on this when I get back. Hopefully, they'll be positive ones.

Hi VF

Yes he said orally come back Sept 26th & it is also what it reads in my passport for this & also the previous two years.

Always Visa expires Aug 27th

ans Come back in person on Sept 26th for each stamp.

So while a bit nervous I do think it is correct given

the history of stamps all 3 being the same.

But like you say might be cheap insurance to stop by one day

in the next week or two

Thanks
