Khon Kaen flights disaster

From October 26th all Thai Smile flights in and out of DMK therefore nothing from Ubon going to Swampy. Brilliant!! Great to see regress in full swing.

A complete and utter pain. The only positive is the necessity for a night stopover downtown before heading to work.

Just used AA from DM to KK and back. Good to be at DM again.

The only problem was the taxis. From KK airport into town, they refuse to put the meter on and want a 200 baht rate. Back from KK town to airport was 150 baht, again refused to use meter. Will be glad when the army gets here and starts to kick a few butts.

Yes, the taxi situation is indeed annoying. When I returned a hire car recently I managed to get Budget to run me back into town. I don't know if there are any other options - think you used to be able to take the Kosa minibus for about 50 baht. I know that in the West 200 baht isn't a huge amount, but nobody likes being ripped off. Don't see the army doing much.

Be happy if you have a van or taxi transport to/from the airport.

Yesterday was my third drive to the airport by car within a month and yet another nightmare at the car park.

Its completely stuffed, about 50% more cars than actual park bays.

Parking on the driveways, sometimes on both sides.

Completely blocking the parking bays (many with brakes engaged bah.gif )

As usual here: absolutely no supervision, no guards, not even think about police or the like.

No gates, no fee, everyone can use it for whatever time.

This will lead to complete chaos if no measures are taken.

Khon Kaen is overheating.

A couple of years ago there was nothing easier than using this park deck.

Another tale from the outer world:

Since two days ThaiSmile advertises flights for a special price of 888 Baht to/from KKC.

You can only book it via credit card.

Neither do I have a Thai CC nor will I be on the desired flight/airport (want to buy for the family).

So I went to the Thai counter yesterday.

"1250 Baht", "special price 940, 14 day advance booking necessary".

(desired flight would be in 6 days)

I tell them about the advertised 888 Baht flights without any prebooking req. and that one could book it on the internet.

-> blunt face, never heard of

What a mess of a company blink.png
