Accom: Better value than Na Inn, Old Town?

Featured Replies

On our last visit to Chaing Mai, we stayed in the 'Log Cabin' in old town for a few nights. Lovely (small) rooms and clean pool but at 1200 baht a night we needed to find an alternative.

We found Na Inn, about 40 metres up the road. 600 baht / night for a double room with aircon and water each day. While basic, it served our purposes and highly recommend it.

Our query is, can we find better value, or better facilities around the same price? Location pretty important (so close to old town, or at least within walking distance to the old gate... can be outside old town so long as not too far). Aircon essential. Pool a huge bonus!

We're happy to go back to Na Inn, but also happy to try new places! We'll be there in December, so understand it's peak time. We have no issue paying the going rate, but who doesn't like a bargain? We're mid 20's couple, 'flashpacking', to give you an idea...

Check The Britannia on Moon Muang soi 9. Super executive room is 800 baht/night and includes TV, aircon, two liters of water per day, coffee/tea with kettle, free wifi with good reception, small refrigerator, and a safe in the room. No pool. Laundry service at 30 thb/kilo, next day service.

Great location, within the moat, on a major songthaew route, 5-10 mins walk to Tha Pae gate, lots of dining options close by. Run by a Kiwi gent and his Thai wife. They run a tight ship which means noise at night is pretty limited. I think the only ways to book are via booking.com or calling directly. No cancellation fee up to 24 hrs prior to arrival if you book via booking.com.

I've been mostly pleased with the B2 franchises. www.b2hotels.com Also, R.C.N. Travel Court is older but nice, with good security....can book on agoda.....more like 450-500...no pool, but coin laundry and service...good TV.....great wi-fi...great a/c....above average sized rooms....24 hour security/key card entry....never need a tuktuk......
