Not at all. I shopped in the old big supercheap. I shop in the Kata mini supercheap. I like the prices, I just do not like the smell smile.png

The smell is pretty horrific all right. Seems a lite less chaotic than before in relation to finding products.

Imho the old SC was a tourist attraction, something special to show for the people who visit Phuket.

The new SC lacks the chaotic atmosphere, it's just a large warehouse type of store.

It is what it is- what's the problem? Its taking some time to find things in the new place but considering where they were last year they have achieved a lot.

They didn't have to import them for my local store. The rat I saw running around inside the shop was probably local bred

I took a group of tourists in there (my sister's friends that I had never met before) the week before it burned down and pointed out all the various dangers, including the fireworks section with no fire extinguisher.

How they get the scent exactly the same at every minimart has to count as a commercial miracle of consistency.

Does the new one have the trademark scent yet, or will they have to reintroduce from the offspring?

Same method as making yoghurt, or, sour-dough bread.

...short of a few fire extinguishers.  facepalm.gif.pagespeed.ce.EuN79TyYk_.gif

I've seen fire extinguishers  they are green ( must have been on sale from the Army?) however I  do not note ANY  exit signs.

I don't like it, particularly the  addition of the  too- loud-  as-  usual Tesco style constant ads and  screeching Thai whining  teenager music. All in all-   missing the panache of the old place. It is more spacious feeling yet   some places are virtually impassable due to piss poor planning too many  vendors and too cramped  shelving, especially the vegetable and fruit sections..

...but since I can  find whole bean coffee for still a decent price, although the wine I bought regularly went up 30%

Agree about the mini SC they all smell positively  retch-able.   I cannot imagine purchasing any food item from there. They all also have a habit of placing as much merchandise out in frontas possible , thus forcing the herds of motorcycles to park halfway out  into the street and any delivery truck blocks traffic  without a care in the world.

The one on Chao Fa West almost opposite PTT is particularly bad as the road narrows thus no shoulder so cars are parked on the inside driving lane. I am surprised there have been no serious accidents there.

Yes, traffic and parking outside of all the supercheaps could be a nice source of income for the bibs if they actually wanted to enforce some traffic laws and keep the island safer.........

I don't recall any news items about road deaths there.

Don't know about deaths, but, I live close by and I have seen at least two accidents in the last two weeks, one, where an ambulance has been called.

Just a matter of time until you see one mentioned in the media.

Yes, when heading south, the combination of the Supercheap on the left and the PPT station on the right make that bit of road like a slalom. I have never stopped at that Supercheap because I live near one in Rawai - near soi Aree 2 - that has a very wide bike lane plus two car lanes in front of it.

Give them time, they will make a mess of it.......

If you cannot find a item anywhere else you will probably be able

to purchase it at the main supercheap store and at a better price

than other supermarkets, you may have a problem locating the item

in the store but its usually there
