Hi,

My thai wife has laminated our child's birth certficate. I am from the Uk and currently in Thailand hoping to apply for my child's UK Passport in Bangkok next week. She did this inadvertently after we received his thai passport.

However i believe this could cause problems in applying for the passport for the Uk and more probloems further down the line in the Uk.

We tried to open up the laminated document but some of the printing has come off.

She says we can get  a copy of it at Bang Rak?

Any thoughts.

Thanks in advance and much appreciated.

Cheers....

If using a birth/marriage/divorce/death certificate in a foreign language for any official UK purpose, e.g. a passport or visa application, then a certified translation is also required.

Neither the original nor the translation should be laminated for the reason given by Seekingasyluim above.
