Court approves warrants for Kritsuda, two other reds over weapons cache
The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court has approved arrest warrants for three red-shirt activists over their alleged illegal possession of guns, bullets and war-grade explosives, deputy national police chief General Somyot Poompanmoung said yesterday.

They are Kritsuda "Ple" Khunasen, 27, Somsak "Nong" Poonsawat, 45, and Mananchaya "May" Ketkaew, 46.

Police sought the arrest warrants after discovering a large cache of war-grade weapons in Ayutthaya's Wang Noi district. The seizure led to the arrest of Peerapong, who is also known as Thanin Sinthusonthichat.

Peerapong told police that Kritsuda and Kamol Duangphasuk, a red-shirt activist and critic of lese majeste laws also known as Mainueng Kor Kuntee, distributed the weapons to others to commit crimes, Somyot said.

Somyot said police would seek the extradition of Kritsuda and Mananchaya, who fled abroad and were believed to being staying in a country that Thailand has an extradition treaty with. Kritsuda has alleged that she was tortured during her recent detention after being summoned by the National Council for Peace and Order.

Somyot said Peerapong gave a statement voluntarily. He said he wanted Peerapong to give a statement before the media to show that Kritsuda's torture claim was false. He said Peerapong confessed that he had received M79 grenades from Kamol and distributed them to his gang to commit crimes, while he had also received M16 assault riffles from Kritsuda but the weapons were not used because they malfunctioned.

Arrest warrant for Ms Kritsuda

8-9-2014-9-00-12-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of a former red-shirt activist wanted on charge of having in possession of war weapons.

Pol Gen Somyos Poompanmuang, the deputy national police chief, said today (Saturday) that a suspect who was recently arrested by the police on similar charge, Mr Phirapong Sinthusonthachart, told police that he obtained some of the war weapons from Ms Kritsuda Kunasen, 27, a former red-shirt activist.

Ms Kritsuda, alias Sahai (Comrade) Sudsoi, claimed that she was tortured by army personnel while she was held in custody. Her claim prompted New York-based Human Rights Watch and the United Nations Human Rights to demand the National Council for Peace and Order to investigate the case.

Ms Kritsuda has left the country and is currently living abroad.

During his weekly address on Friday, NCPO chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha categorically denied Ms Kritsuda’s charge that she was tortured by army personnel during her detention.

“Why beat her up, she has a pretty face?” asked the general, adding that there was no point of torturing or beating her up as all the people held in the military custody have never been tortured.

He said that Ms Kritsuda was cooperative with the authorities during her detention. He added that the red-shirt activists asked to say on in army’s custody claiming that she felt unsafe getting out.

What a coincident that she is charged with possession of weapons just after complaining about being tortured by army personnel.

Thai girls will say anything for attention, and make up any story. Even as much as, "I loving you you are very handsome rich man happy ending".

Incidentally, if she had done nothing wrong, why has she fled the country? Bank account with large deposits from TS perhaps?

Get over it, it's obvious nobody has been so-called tortured by army personnel.

How do so many Thais manage to leg it to avoid justice so fast as there's the minor matter that most western countries require advance visa applications ?

Then comes the matter of visa extensions.

Yes i am sure TS is going to transfer large deposits via a bank account to her current account to fund things! If you believe that then you are beyond stupid.  He has allegedly been funding activities for nigh on a decade and no one has been able to pin any money movement on him. (Possibly because other parties/organizations also have money moved around in similar methods)

He added that the red-shirt activists asked to say on in army’s custody claiming that she felt unsafe getting out.

Could someone translate this translation? My brain hurts...

It means: Kritsuda was so happy to be in army physical custody that she asked to stay in that army custody an extra two weeks until the UN asked, "Huh?".

This was posted in June, as a statement signed by Kritsuda, when human rights groups and the UN questioned why she had not been released as the law requires. The army confirmed her statement, that she was so happy in army custody that they really had no choice but to grant her wish to stay there past her release date. Both the army and Kritsuda swore that she felt unsafe in regular society, and felt safe in the army's custody.

I believe she was released from custody, and then did a runner, making up stories to justify her running to the EU.

Your beliefs do not affect the facts.

She was not "released from custody". You should check it out, because it applies not to Kritsuda but to pretty well 100% of those who were "requested to report" in the first place, including Kritsuda. She did a runner, as you put it, while under surveillance - a close English word might be "parole" but it doesn't quite capture the actual state that exists between the military authorities and the, er, requestees.

But I'm impressed you seem to know quite a lot about her state of mind. Are you related to her, a friend, or what? Are you free to tell us more about this? It certainly seems interesting to many people.

The birds are singing. Pointing fingers. Then some will try anything to not face the consequences. The small fish will do time. Now see if bigger and big fish will follow.

How? Serious question: How will big fish follow?

If we accept everything General Sarit and staff say, they had a weapons smuggler in their custody for four weeks, they had her under surveillance from May 22.... and she got away. General Sarit and his staff say that they are so incompetent that one weapons smuggler escaped from their custody and surveillance.

This is their BEST explanation, the one that makes themselves look good.

How will they get big fish?

I believe she was released from custody, and then did a runner, making up stories to justify her running to the EU.

If, indeed, she was tortured, where is the medical evidence?

You really need to watch your choice of words.  There is a huge difference between escaped and released.  Of course, released would not suit your agenda.

She was RELEASED long after the 7 days max to be held without court approval.  No one knew where she was but the Army.  You think she may have had a reason to leave the country.  Can you blame her.  I can't.  Also some torture is mental not physical which may not show up on a medical examination.

She was held for 27 days with court approval as she defied a summons to report to the NCPO previously. If she has she would have only been detained for 7 days as was every other person that did not "run away" from accountability.

some torture is mental not physical which may not show up on a medical examination.

The torture tactics described in her youtube video described covering her head with a plastic bag, locking her up in a zipped bag and having female soldiers give her a bath while she was blindfolded.

You think she may have had a reason to leave the country.  Can you blame her.

So you have rationalized and defended thaksin "running away" from criminal charges. You have rationalized and defended this lady for "running away" from criminal charges. Next you will rationalize and defend terrorists "running away" from criminal charges. Ohhh hang on!

You are becoming the very thing you purport to hate. [/quote]

She was already in custody when the first "summons" was issued. There were no subsequent court orders extending her holding. The army denied or rather refused to admit having her for several weeks prior to her "press conference".

It is strange that the folk the army want on lesse mageste charges, which very few countries will extradite on are suddenly discovered to also be weapons cache controllers.

This entire post is rumour mongering, and false. It should be removed. Kritsuda was NOT let's repeat that was NOT held for not reporting. She did, in fact, report. The army claims, citing a signed statement by Kritsuda, that she requested to stay in custody.

Again - this post is rumour mongering and should be removed.

The birds are singing, pointing fingers, the small fish will do time, they'll end up sleeping with the fishes (sorry, that one was mine, well the film mafia character, Sal Tessio's actually) - what's with the psuedo mob talk?

Dare I suggest that this recent turn of events should be subject to healthy scepticism. It's not as if the junta doesn't have previous (Oh, No, you've got me at it now). One would have thought that this might have been mentioned before the accusations of torture were raised...............coffee1.gif

A favorite move by USA police is to take a suspect in for questioning and then let them go free soon.  That way, the suspect's buddies must assume the suspect spilled info... on them... and the buddies "take care of" the suspect in their own way.  Italian Mafia was hurt with that method often.

Police have no need to touch the suspect;  just hold for a while and let go free.

If, indeed, she was tortured, where is the medical evidence?

So you would testify on behalf of the CIA that Abu Zubaydah was not tortured 82 times while in custody in Thailand. There is no existing medical evidence of one such act, after all, let alone serial torture. And yet... and yet I personally believe he was tortured, just as he says.

Interesting idea you've raised. I wonder if there is another human on Earth that accepts that torture must be proved by visible medical evidence. I don't think there is.

There are / were videos and photo's on line showing here with weapons and with TS , in my opinion the the army should of held her longer.

She now looks like a panicked rabbit.

Are you saying she was standing next to TS and they were in possession of war weapons? When were these photos purportedly taken?
