Decent AC Repair in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

I just need someone to come get my wall AC unit draining properly so it stops dripping all over my floor. Anyone know of a good crew who will do it right the first time?

Thanks,

DF

I'm signing up to see the replies, as I need one too. The peoplenive used previously have proven worthless!

I've used aircongenie a couple of time when my AC wasn't working. They're ok- seem professional, get the job done- that said I've had to call them out three times in two years but that might be down to the age of the air con unit (quite possible). They are easy to deal with- send them an email- they show up at the right time... all good.

It's very hit and miss with all these skilled trades in Thailand. Although there is an apprenticeship scheme and in theory tradesmen are properly trained, in practice, any cowboy who chooses can set themselves up in business. The last ones we had, damaged every air con unit in our building and of course there's no comeback here. Thankfully now we live in a rented apartment its someone elses problem. The best (and most expensive) bet is to go back to the manufacturer and see if they can send someone out (depends on the age of the unit). They may also have a list of recommended repairers who may (or may not) get it right first time. T.I.T.

our condo actually arranges regular 6 monthly servicing for all units around the condo... it's even covered in our monthly condo fees.

i asked how much i had to pay the last time.. and the guys just said they were paid already.. a nice surprise..

i will however ask them for a namecard the next time they come (soon).. they came in with a team of 5 or so people.. and were extremely professional and quick.

Normally dripping is due to blockage by dirt/dust in the drain/or tray and should be cleaned in normal yearly or six month service cleaning. Any shophouse selling units will have knowledge of people who can service - normal cost is about 500-600 baht for power wash cleaning of both inside and outside units and for most people well worth doing every six months as will also allow unit to operate more efficiently.
