How To Swear In Thai?

Featured Replies

However I certainly wouldnt use swear words with people you don't know, good end up dreadfully wrong. unsure.gif

I would(and have)if they insult me. Wouldn't you stand up for yourself in another country?Sure, there have been some 'incidents' - don't you have any sense of pride?

It certainly shows where someone learned their Thai language .... kinda sad really

History and language are what they are. Nothing sad about understanding them. What's sad are folks who feel a need to swear.

What's sad about learning Thai in a bar, or on the street?

It's real life!

I was in a bar in Sukhumvit on Wednesday night...when this 25 year old English guy (a right bulshi****) started swearing in Thai, with a bit of Loas and Khymer thrown in for good measure...Some of the bargirls found it funny...some certainly did not... :D

One girl who is a good friend of mine, said to him..."don't speak like that...I wasn't brought up by my family to speak to people like that..." :D

Who says b/gs are all the same??? :o

True in a way.

However to Thais it shows where you live your life.

Which, in this case, is not something you should advertise.

How one 'used to' live their life.

Obviously I wouldn't use that type of Thai in the RBSC or similar place.

When speaking to the woman when I'm buying my somtam, I change my language.

I think Thais respect being able to use both - even the 'hoity toity' ones, they usually find it funny and are intruiged.

Speaking in 'proper' Thai, especially in my part of Thailand would sound silly - I think it similar to how an Asian gentleman, who speaks the Queen's English, would be recieved if walking into the Woolies in Leith. Even an Englishman gets the p*** taken if he speaks with a plum in his mouth.

Kreng Jai (bad phonetics, sorry I can't write Thai)

Use the language that you are comfortable with, with the people you are comfortable with.... otherwise have some respect.

If you would like to have an article in a newspaper about you...... say the first thing that comes into your head....... (it was probably lonely anyway :o )

Would like to learn how to swear in thai. Some light phrases, and also some harder, when u really mean it. Just dont mix´em up..

SWEAR = Sa-bann =สาบาน

Mostly Thais need swearing in some events such as "Man swears to love woman till he die if in the future he change his heart he swear" ขอให้ฟ้าผ่าตาย."= Kor-Hai-Fah_Pah_Tie=(die by the tunder)

We swear at the temple, sprit house or etc. respected places.

SWEAR and Promise are using as the same time as called " สัญญา สาบาน" "Sun-ya..Sa-Bann"=Promise..Swear

The promising first and follows with swearing.

Example... I promise to love you, only you and for ever but if I forget my promising I SWEAR "I will stay like a deadly person in the suffering life. or die suddenly in the minute if I change my mind from you.

Kreng Jai =เกรงใจ
