Linux on Tablet computers

Featured Replies

HI all,

I currently use Linux 17 Qianta on all my computers and love it. I do not understand why anyone uses Apple or Windows now.

I am looking at purchasing a Tablet x netbook computer and I am hoping to use linux on it as well. As I have never done this before does anyone have any info on best version to download and the best phone company to go with.

I am looking at the Asus TRansformer netbook tablet. Any suggestions on the best computer to buy would also be appreciated.

Thanks all

Ubuntu Linux is coming out soon and will have tablet distributions available from the looks of it.  Ubuntu on tablets   also more info on Techrepublic

There is LinuxonAndroid  project  that is growing but probably need to be tech savvy to implement it.

Thanks Tywais,

I was just reading about that. Not sure if i want to be the lab rat and go first. My computer skills are not that Good.

Thanks for the reply

If you consider the Asus Transformer

The first one was a complete failure

the TF700t is almost not useable if you keep it original.

All not well supported on the software side by ASUS

These are old models but before I would buy a new one I would read a lot feedbacks....

What exactly do you need w.r.t. using "Linux" on a tablet? Because android itself is based on Linux, and many of the changes are due to the differences in use between something that relies on mouse and keyboard vs something that uses touchscreens.
