What VPN was I using?

Featured Replies

For a person who has been around so long I would think you might know this "thing" we are talking about here is not a VPN. Its called IP masking or blocking. A VPN is a completely different thing. This IP masking is for people who access porn which Thailand blocks and sites which do not allow Thai IP addresses to access due to licensing such as TV and other media streaming sites. Also it allows all you conspiracy theory people what you think is "safe" browsing. Anything else you need schooling on please ask :)

But this "thing" we are talking about is the OP not being able to use iPlayer because he's lost Hotspot Shield.

Which is why I recommended Zenmate, and others recommend Hola.

So why pay for a VPN, which is only going to terminate at the overseas server anyway and allow them to look at what your are surfing regardless?

I don't really get your point, unless you're trying to be pedantic. In which case best try again.

And those products are all IP Blocking and Masking sites, not VPNs.

Very good. So we've established that you know the difference.

Now, if you'd like to tell me any significant disadvantages of using Hola or Zenmate to watch BBC iPlayer or Hulu, as opposed to paying for a VPN, I'm all ears.

Other than privacy of course, but why should I give a toss that Zenmate know I watch BBC News?

:)

I use IP blocking so I can talk c.r.a.p. about thai government issues :)

I think the mods care more what we say about thai government issues than the thai government do.

Consider 3bb fiber 30 dl. My Q: Can I use VPN on their router or do I have to buy a new one?
