Koh Mak to Siam Reap overland - can do?

Featured Replies

2 of my relatives will be visiting Koh Mak in December and then want to go to Angko Wat.

Rather than heading all the way back to Bangkok and flying I was wondering if anyone had done this over land and could share their experience.

Hi

How adventurous are they?

Plenty of bus options from Trat - Chanthaburi - Sa Kaeo province and the border crossing at Aranyaprathet/Poipet, and from there to SR

Likely to be many hours travel/plus wait between buses - however getting to Sa Kaeo would take about the the same traveling time as getting to Bangkok from Trat - where would they fly from - Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang (DM can add another hour to the trip from Chanthaburi)?

Can not give you details but yes have friends that cross at Hat Lek and take the bus to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

Thanks. They aren't adventurous enough to do that by bus but I might hire a car to take them. Any idea if it would be possible to rent a car with driver once over the border to get to Siem Reap?

I was looking at that online.. This will be their 1st time in Thailand so that would probably be too far out of their comfort zone. Thanks anyway.

No problem their lined up. All it takes is money and negotiation skills.
