The plan is to modify the bike "just a little bit": front springs, rear shock (Ohlins), full line (Akrapovic, Yoshimura) and make the rear end nicer ;-)

Ah but once you start ...

Any bike made here will give you loads of options. Have a look here http://www.k-speed.net All in Thai but the menu bar on the LHS has various bike models listed, namely the most popular locally produced or imported bikes. Lots of stuff for Z800 and Z1000, CB650, baby Monster etc. <deleted> all for FZ09 and other less popular bikes.

For my 09 I got Ohlins front springs from a place in France. Rear shock ordered locally through Dirt Shop end of June and expected to be here mid-September. Can get a full Akra here but I prefer Yosh; again would have to be ordered specially (as would PC5 for the 09).

No one has mentioned the Honda CB650f. Cheap as chips at 285k baht. Adequate but not exhilarating power - 86hp.

Standard ABS if you like that type of thing ( I do - had a few slides with a fz-09 recently because I have become so used to being able to stamp on the rear brake whenever I choose). Surprisingly for a little 4, it has plenty of torque so pulls cleanly from low speeds in top gear.

Easiest bike I've ever ridden, and I have ridden a few. Like most Hondas, everything is well integrated - controls, suspension, brakes, engine.

Perfect for city traffic, as it is as nimble as a scooter but will always get you to the front of the queue and into clean air - at least until the next lights!.

Excellent on tight twisty roads, this is what it seems built for. OK for cruising / touring. My main complaints are minor: it's a bit heavy (208kgs wet); that stupid upside-down location of horn / turn signal - and it won't be nearly as much fun at a track day as a Z1000. But there is that little price difference to consider.

Yes also power is not boring and it is a blast too. For half the price of a z1000, it is a great value.

Some maths: THB285K for the CB650F, THB375K for the Z800, THB600K for the Z1000 smile.png

My last 4 bikes were a ZZR1100, a ZRX1200, a ZX9R and a SpeedTriple, all full power (at the time, I was living in the UK). May be, I'll find the CB650F "boring".

I'll welcome your feedbacks thumbsup.gif

If these are your three choices and you can afford the Z1000 then buy that. If you can't, then get Z800 (but go ride a Hypermotard and FZ09 first). Sounds like you want something for fun, rather than for commuting or long-distance touring. CB650F is good value, has had very good reviews, but it wouldn't excite me nearly as much as my FZ09. I've got nothing against Honda - I've also got a PCX and for 4-wheels a CRV. Both are well-made, reliable, super functional … but neither is very exciting. I'm lucky enough that I had around 400K to spend on a bike for fun, so I bought something that first and foremost ticked that box for me. And I love that I've got a triple again rolleyes.gif

i rode more powerful bikes than cb650f and i can definitely confirm, it is not boring.

again as BKKbike09 said, if you have money, go for z1000 but check hypermotard and fz09 as well. or actually if you have more money, the best is naked in Thai market now is bmw s1000r and you can get it for 830 k thb, i believe it is the best naked on earth IMO - spme might argue and say ktm duke 1299 is the best but not for me still respect that bike too.

z800 is a heavy and inferior bike than z1000 so not my cup of tea in Bangkok but some owners are very happy with it too. it has no ABS so a big deal breaker for me.

what i am saying is honda cb650f does the job also has ABS for 285 k thb and it is sure not boring. actually, it has more torque and raw power than a cbr600rr up to 10,000 rpm. better as a naked and easy in the city. you cannot go wrong with it and save 300 k thb for a lot of mods, maintenance and petrol for 10 years! Honda bigwing service is also good and proper with lots of activities.

I plan to swap my z800 soon with the z1000 because its just much better to ride on highway + city and worth the extra price. Dumb me should have done this from beginning.

Now... I saw some Thai post about Ducati offering their 899 (panigale?) superbike model for 749'000 + free termignoni slip on... what a deal! does somebody has more info to this? Like is it limited offer or permament like honda did it to their cbr1000rr

I really consider it instead of the z1000. Love the looks wub.png

There's a thread on it here.

I think the promotion with the free Termi ended on the 24th but you can check with [email protected] and she'll be able to confirm.

An 899 is a rocket going from even a Z1000 to an 899 is literally twice the bike. An 899 will bite if you are not a very experienced rider.

If you buy an 899 you need to put in some serious track time.

i fully agree with you. I was never on a track.

But i really enjoy sport bikes (even tho they make you very exhausted after 1 hour)

But i gained basic experience about such bikes when my friend gave me his 2011 R1 for 2 months cuz he went overseas. Scary at first but the confident increased after each day and yes i had some dumb moments with the downshifts and clutching on a liter bike.

Dont think a 899 will be more challenging than the r1 right ? But at the end a z1000 is the best option for where i live. The roads here are not meant for sport bikes

The performance of the 899 is going to be very close to an unmodified R1 but it is much lighter and a lot more agile. Which will encourage you to weave in and out of traffic. The Z1000 is a streetfighter type bike if your roads are not good and you like Ducati what about a Hypermotard?

the Hypermotard has some good reviews and there are few of them here (seems to be more popular than the monster) but from style its not really my thing.

I wont rush to swap things for now as i hear more and more about new bikes coming in 2015. Like the zx-6r.
