taipeiwalkerhk Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Hi folks, Will go to BKK Mid of Sept alone and would like your suggestion on a nice coffee shop with the following: 1) Easy access .... Hopefully near BTS/MRT with 15 mins walking is also okay 2) Good view with nice ice coffee plus cakes 3) Can sit and watching people on the street. 4) Not so noisy so that I can flip my ebook or paper books. 5) Target price should be around 400B or so. Anyone can give me suggestion ? Regards! Tristan
dukeandduke Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Cafe Bicycle, by Phloen Chit BTS, or Dean and Deluca, just down Sukhumvit from there. 1
taipeiwalkerhk Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 Hey Duke, nice suggestion esp. Cafe Bicycle. Happy to see more suggestion from you guys! Thanks!
ginglee Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Good coffe, and serious people watching? Starbucks Ammarin- Ploenchit.
paddyjenkins Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I like Starbucks opposite soi 4...good for scum watching....just don't sit in my special seat.... 2
sundrenched Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Library Cafe on (side soi of) Sukhumvit Soi 24. O'Brien's at ground level of Thaniya Plaza (connects directly with BTS Siam) -- although not a "trendy" place if that's what you want. Dean & Deluca in Sathorn Square (connects with Chong Nonsi BTS). Cafes in TCDC (Emporium 7th floor) and BACC -- not with a street view but good people watching and very nice. Au Bon Pain and Duc du Praslin on Sukhimvit S31 corner. Etc. One of the great things about Bangkok is nice coffee shops all over the place. It's often worth walking down the sois to see what you discover. I can think of several others, but they're not always easy to explain how to find.
Rumblecat Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Cafe Bicycle, by Phloen Chit BTS, or Dean and Deluca, just down Sukhumvit from there. Cafe Bicycle is shut now unfortunately- closed down on the 15th. They're hoping to re-open somewhere else sometime in the future.
taipeiwalkerhk Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 Thanks guys for all the suggestion. What a pity that CB is about to close down see if I can have a last 'sunday' with her. BTW any cafe not on the street but on above say 5th floor. I think the view will be nice if I sit higher
taipeiwalkerhk Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Oh my bad it was Aug 15 not Sept 15. So I better look somewhere else
singa-traz Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Cafe Tartine near Phloen Chit (after Novotel in Ruam Rudee)

paddyjenkins Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Do people here strike up conversations in coffee shops, or is it a solitary activity the vast majority of the time?
