BANGKOK: -- Bangkok’s motorists and bus commuters were warned to brace for traffic gridlock today as heavy rains are expected probably in the evening, said Pol Maj-Gen Jirasan Kaewsaeng-aek, commander of traffic police, today.

Citing the weatherman, he said that rains are expected today covering 80 percent of Bangkok with heavy rains anticipated in some areas so motorists and bus commuters should plan their journey and leave earlier than usual and also check information about traffic before the journey by calling 1197.

He said that several places in Bangkok were badly flooded and worsened traffic conditions after heavy rains yesterday morning and, later on, in the evening. Badly flooded roads were Chaengwattana, Theparak, Poochao Samingprai, Ngamwongwan, Sukhumvit connecting with Theparak.

Help all the Thai people with ADD to stay in one place and not have the MENTAL NEED to always going from Point A to Point B for no reason.

Also remove 50% of all taxis.

Problem Solved.

When they give a warning like this, everyone thinks everyone else will do as instructed, and so everything will be Ok. We all know how this ends.

Plan your journey. A bridge too far and requires logic. The majority of these areas have been subject to flooding for years and millions of Baht has been allocated but obviously not for flood relief.

A little off-topic, but couldn't they add another car or two to the trains during rush hours? I think they already do that compared to off-peak hours, but they could use more. Sometimes these trains approach Tokyo conditions. They're going to need to start hiring pushers soon. (OK, a little exaggeration there...)
