Suon Son Businesses Being Evicted?

Featured Replies

I've just heard that some of the businesses on the Suon Son beach to the east of Ban Phe have received eviction notices from the government, saying they must clear the beach area.

How many businesses (basically bars and restaurants) have been given that notice? How far east does the eviction go? all the way towards Mae Phim, or just within the central municipality?

I have read about the closures in Phuket but this is the first I've heard about it coming to the eastern seaboard.

Anyone have any information about these notices, and the extent of them?

They've started talking with the beach vendors here in Pattaya. Nothing has happened yet, but I was on the beach a few days ago and saw a few trucks filled with people in uniform and some in dress clothes with ties. All very official looking and walking up and down the beach talking with the vendors.

Started in Hua Him also. About time the aggressive vendors and shanty sh!t-hole shacks were moved off the beach, imo.

While I tend to agree with you, the ones on Suon Son at Ban Phe are neither aggressive vendors nor shanty shit-hole shacks.

They are permanent structures between the road and the beach, restaurants and small bars, and have been there through many heavy storms, standing firmly, so not shanty like at all.

I'd agree to getting rid of the vendors with their ubiquitous sun loungers and beach chairs, but the issue of the exact measurement of beach space needs to be addressed. The ones on Suon Son are not impeding access to the beach at all.

Suan Son "beach restaurants", crap food ridiculous high prices, give it back to the nature, i say...

Dismantling has started. 2/3 are already defunct. Not sure where Ban Phe municipality ends.

Have to say sorry I am in favour, tired of being made to feel I have to rent chairs or buy their awful food if I want shade, goes for Mae Rampueng too...sooner they do it the the better..cleaning and rubbish issues all need firmly addressing to make it a natural hot spot again
