Man severely burnt while allegedly stealing cable from power poles

CHON BURI: -- A young man was severely burnt early Saturday morning while he was allegedly stealing a ground cable from a high-voltage power transformer.

The short circuitry, which burn the legs and genitals of Phanuphat Chanthasi, 18, in front of a power station in Sattahip district at 2:30 am also caused a blackout in the district.

Police said people in the neighbourhoods heard a cry for help immediately after the blackout so some of them came out to see the man lying down with his trousers catching fire.

They put out the fire and rushed him to a nearby hospital.

Police said Phanuphat climbed up the power pole to cut a ground wire, which was made of copper, from the transformer but the short circuitry occurred, burning him and causing him to fall down.

Phanuphat said he came to steal the power cables with two friends who had fled the scene immediately.

Police found that ground wires from six transformers had already been cut and the cables were found near the man.

I can't remain static anymore on such charges. His mom blew a fuse when she heard about it and volted over the gate leaving her current buns in the micro wave. A crime worse than battery. If his nuts are done for he may turn AC/DC, that'll jump start his love life.

This topic has generated enough interest to make your hair stand on end. Although many of us remain poles apart, there are more positives than negatives being currently shown, so no need to phase out our mods who by now would have usually blown a fuse !!!

I guess he did not shine any light on his mates who bolted.

On a more serious note. This should be a lesson on the risks of the powersupply in the area. Make sure your place is up to spec with electrical safety.

Good, hope he learnt his lesson, or at least learnt how to steal it better next time.

Can only hope it was the same prick that stole the cable from our property and left it powerless when needed one time.
