Jomtien (Chonburi) 90 day address reporting details ... no copies needed?

The PCEC (expats club) states that at Jomtien starting in March, there are no longer any copy requirements or proof of address.

All you need is the TM47 address reporting form filled out.

They seem to indicate this is the case whether they are doing an "automated" address reporting with bar code or the old system with the tear off form placed in passport.

Can someone confirm that this is really true CURRENTLY?

In other words no need whatsoever to bring copies or proof of address to the office for address reporting?

Thank you.

1 The Chonburi Office used to require photocopies of passport face page, last entry stamp, & latest extension stamp. In addition, they required a phoctopy of departure card, and evidence of address (utility bill, etc.). The discontinued this practice in March 2014.

Did mine last week. No queue. No photocopies. Just one completed TM47 which wasn't checked. It all took less than one minute. The computerised system was not used.

This is Thailand and YMMV.

I did mine last week. Took 3 minutes. No lines just filled out form and got number. Sat down and the lady officer took my passport and paper and threw out the paper telling me I no longer have to fill out the form. She printed one from the computer and stapled it into my passport. I go back by Dec. 17. NICE!!!!

Yes they do that from around the beginning of this year.

I got the barcode in March and no copy no TM7 needed in June smile.png

but...

1- you have to go to the lady on the right of the 3-officers table; she is the only one with the computer and barcode reader

2- this month when I made my report the printer was not working sad.png So they asked me to fill a TM47... and to provide the passport stamps and address proof copies...

So still better to have these copies with you wink.png

If you read my comment above you will see that this is not always the case.

I did mine a few weeks ago and they still wanted all the photocopies as well as the form filled in.

The previous two times I did it, they just kept the form and handed back all the photocopies "for next time."

So I agree with Pattaya 46, until this settles, probably better to bring all the usual paperwork.

Maybe a little of topic , but today i did my first retirement exstension at Jomtien , combination methode , and they did not needed adres certificate or even some utility bills , no questions even asked about , so i gues they are computerising more & more

"and they did not needed adres certificate or even some utility bills "

I can't recall anytime, at least in the past few years, when they wanted any proof of address when I was doing the extension. Apparently they do ask for it from some people. Of course my address is shown on my embassy affidavit. Maybe that's considered sufficient.

I bring along a utility bill photocopy when I've done the 90 day report. Sometimes it's been kept. Sometimes it's been handed back to me.

I'd be interested to know what happens if you leave Thailand for a period and reset the 90 days to a different cycle. Wouldn't they need to see your most recent entry stamp?

No, they wouldn't.

Because your border or airport entry is in the system computer??

Just curious, since I have no plans to go out of the country, but wouldn't they need to know when you last entered the country to figure out the new 90 day reporting date?

When I last did mine 2+ months ago one of the males in the middle did it as efficiently using the computer as the girl on the right who I normally try and get.

I take a land-line phone bill and copy passport with me just in case. Though this year it has always been returned to me as un-needed.

Great system. Something Thailand can be proud of for a change.

What makes you think that date is not already in the computer?

It is or should be.

Because quite often the person doing the 90 day report isn't using a computer. The last 4 times I did the report , I dealt with the woman sitting at the computer 3 times, but then this last time, at the beginning of September, the man I dealt with did everything manually. If he did have access to the computer and if it did have a record of my last entry at the airport, I can see there would be no need to check the entry stamp in my passport (assuming I had gone out of the country & returned recently), but without that information before him, how would be know without looking in my passport?

The whole thing is mute because computer or not you will have to take your passport. I was only pointing out the obvious as everything quoted pointed to using a computer. If they use the computer or your passport they'll know when you last entered the country to figure out the 90 day point.

I really don't see what you're questioning. If you've been there 4 times already (3 computer, 1 manually) you should know what happens. It is probably the easiest and quickest of all Thai bureaucracy you'll come up against.

to figure out the 90 day point.

No they can't. There is no direct relation between your last entry date (that can be very old) and the date of your next 90 days report.

This next report is due 90 days after your previous one (or last entry) but as you have an interval [80 - 90 days] to make each report, you usually can't know the next report date from the entry date.

The master has spoken but I'm also not convinced. I'll find out next time I report.

Yes you are right. I should have said:

If they use the computer or your passport they'll know when you last entered the country or made a 90 day report to figure out the next 90 day point.

Silly me I've been nowhere for 4 years and should have known that. Maybe my brain needs a reboot or the trash cleaning out. Whatever.

Incidentally you say 80 - 90 days. I thought it was 75 - 97 i.e. 15 days before, 7 days after. I have been late, by only a couple of days, and they said nothing.

Since there are usually three people handling 90 day reports at Jomtien, why will no one answer what happens if you don't get the lady who controls the computer ?

I think I answered this in post number 2:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/762315-jomtien-chonburi-90-day-address-reporting-details-no-copies-needed/#entry8419168

There was only one officer there and he didnt use the computer or check anything or ask for photocopies.

OK, here is my understanding based on recent experience. It may or may not be correct, but this is my current understanding.

1. If you have not had your info put into the computer by the nice lady, you still need the usual application form and copies.

2. If you had have your into put into the computer by the nice lady and there is full form stapled to your passport (not just the receipt in the past), you not only need copies, you do not even need to fill out an application form!

This is the case even if you have a new reporting date based on a trip out and in.

See how that works the next time!
