Living in Onnut and want to go jogging question

Featured Replies

If I live near Onnut BTS where is a nice place to go jogging?

I know I will have to travel. Lumpini?

There is a park by Phrom Phong BTS and also a park with a 2km track around the lake close to Asoke BTS.

The Asoke is the better of the 2.

I'm sure there are plenty off road runs about also, alas I don't know where they are yet.

its about 5-10 minutes walk from the bts.. Not sure what road names etc but basically if you come out of the bts and leave thru the barrier opposite Terminal 21 you then walk down that main road, away from Terminal 21 and away from Sukhumvit, If you come out wrong and end up on the same side of the road as The Exchange tower no problem as there is a foot bridge you can cross.

Check out a map of Bangkok and narrow it down to Asoke and you will see the park, tho it will come up mainly as blue for the lake.

How about the biggest park in Bangkok? It's just a song thaw ride away. Check out the giant park behind Paradise Park. 8 baht by songthaew.

I don't really know. I guess that depends on traffic. My boss makes the commute everyday to Klong Toey from there, so it can't be too bad. I drive s motorbike or car. By bike, it takes me about 10 minutes most of the time.

Well done on managing to spell the same word differently twice in the same line.

^^ Predictive text on my phone ... sigh ...

Ahh well that explains it !!!!!... That's for the post tho, I shall have a wander that way.

The biggest park in BKK is Rama IX Park, isn't it? And its nowhere near Onnut.

The next largest is Lumpini and by far the best for running/walking with multiple routes.

OP, how far do you like to jog, the oval pond mentioned previously is 2 km around. It used to belong to the Tobacco Monopoly but is now public. Be careful of the bicyclists that use an outer ring around the pedestrian path since they are all a bunch of middle-aged, office guys with big paunches and limited cycling skills who all think they are Lance Armstrong when they put on their lycra outfits.

Correct. It would be recommended to take the BTS; however, you will receive some serious frowns from the Thai passengers if you are wearing nothing but a sweaty running top and shorts...understandably so.

I live on On Nut Road. It takes me 5-10 minutes to get to Rama IX park depending on traffic on Srinakarin Road. I'm not sure how that isn't "near". It takes me much longer to get to Phrom Pong.

There's a useful Twitter graphic linked to Guru showing the parks and running distances in Bangkok if you Google Guru Magazine showing the running distances in the major parks in #Bangkok.

That close? My apologies. I should atleast get partial credit, I did get the name of the biggest park correct, eh?
