New Years Eve in BKK

Featured Replies

sorry guy's not sure what thread to post this in: I'm in BKK for a couple days over new year, for new years eve. Any advice?

Also what is new years day like, is everything still open?

At Central World there will be a countdown to midnight on New Years Eve, which is always a big big event.

From what I remember I think very few places close down (apart from the Foreign Embassies and Thai government offfice, maybe immigration)

Went to Centralplaza at Chatuchak/Lard Prao last new year and not a soul in sight but then I should've realised that Thai/Chinese new year is celebrated more.

My advice would be to book a table in a roof top bar and enjoy the sights and sounds and fireworks and then head onto a club afterwards. But it depends what you like doing, who you'll be with etc. Bit more detail would help ;)

And yes, everything is open on New Year's Day as normal.

Cheers guys rooftop bar or river cruise are looking good. Heard asiateque may be doing something its close to where we staying and usually have a good time there plus I have a friend there so it's a possible.

Is there a part of the city that's a focal point for the fireworks or is it just all over the city?

You get more fireworks towards the centre- like CentralWorld is a big focus for the fireworks- but a lot of rooftop bars and hotels do their own as well, so there's fireworks going on all over the city.
