Hi,

I've had a search around the forum for an answer to this, but I haven't managed to find anything so far.

My current visa is about to expire in about a week, so I'll need to be going out of the country to get the second entry of my tourist visa. I was wondering about the best way for me to do this in Bangkok?

When I was in Chiang Mai I would just take a minivan to Mae Sai, go out and in and drive back. Is there a similar way to do that from Bangkok, or is there a better way to do everything here?

I would prefer to do it the easiest way, where everything is sorted out by some company, but I'm willing to hear any suggestion of what to do for this.

Should it make a difference, I'm near Victory Monument, and I don't mind traveling to anywhere via taxi or BTS to get to the starting point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

proovms

There used to be a border open into Myanmar for visa runs about 50km from Kanchanaburi but that's no longer an option.

I suggest the airport for a quick flight to Phnom Penh and back.

I once did the full round trip from Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok to Phnom Penh and back in 7 hours, door to door including taxis to and from the airport.

Before doing the border hop you should extend first for 30 days at immigration.

Most people goes to Cambodia with a company, e.g.a sponsor of the forum. others go by train, etc. it really depends by your budget and preferences.

From Bangkok a border run to Cambodia is the only real option unless you fly out and back.

Click on the advert on the right side of this page and I am sure that sponsor of this forum can help you.

I went with the company sponsored here that meets at Tesco Lotus near Onnut bts and was happy with their service.

The go to Laos for visa and I believe Cambodia for quick in-trip.

Can use Google and type "visa run" and Google suggest "visa run bkk"

They were the 1st company on the list.

I will agree with this posting

Used their service several time for border runs and never had a nefative experience .... except for losing a few baht at the casino

The border crossing is at Ban Leam

I used to use a visa run company that leaves Ekkamai about 0930 daily and goes to Ban Laem, Cambodia for 2000 baht inclusive of a meal and Cambodian visa.

You'll find that the visa run departing OnNut is now priced at B2,300 due to increase in the Cambodian visa fee.

The visa service that used to depart Ekkamai at 09.30hrs is no longer in operation.

My previous 90 day visa run was a one day trip to KL with AirAsia. Total cost B2,420 which included booked seats and only hand luggage.

March and June next year have booked AA to Chiang Rai (local bus to Mae Sae) for B980 round trip in a day.

Enjoy.

I used to drive to Poi Phet (not sure I've spelt that correctly). I finally got sick and tired of it, now I fly to Singapore and back.

Thai Airways have flights that turn around in Singapore in 1 hour so you get off the plane have a little wander around duty free, no need to go through immigration, back onto the return flight, painless.

Occasionally I make an overnight stay and have a night out. Thai have plenty of flights to chose from if you decide not to do the immediate turn around.

due to the crack down the number of Companies is already reduced.

jacks closed long ago,

Bangkok Buddy or Tanja who took over location and timing, runs nowadays only twice a week from 5am.

My dear friend from Ekamai has stopped the daily trips.

We, at Thai Visa Service, still offer daily service, meeting 6.15am, departure around 6.45am.

Meeting place is the parking lot of Tesco Lotus.

Price is THB2,300.- for Westerner, we had to increase as Cambodian Arrival Visa has increased by USD10.- after 1st October.

This was sounding pretty good to me just now until I Googled it:

A more comfortable and safer option is to book a ticket with a reputed company such as Green Bus. You will need to get to the bus station by yourself, but that’s a minor discomfort considering the eight hours of travel you need to do to get to Mae Sai and back....

I think I'm out!

--------------------------

I've used them before.

4 hours from Bangkok to the Cambodian border, 1 hour there while visa is stamped, dinner at your own cost, then return to Bangkok the same day.

Depending on traffic, about 9 hours total.

Meet at 6 a.m. daily in the parking lot of the Tesco at On Nut BTS stop daily.

Call or email them to be sure you are not asking for a date that is a Thai holiday or Cambodian holiday.

Then just show up for their departure with the money.

As it says above, 2300 Baht now, due to increase of cost of Cambodian visa (included).
