PM says probe into pricey microphones not over yet

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said today that the investigation into the procurement of pricey microphones for use at the Government House was not completed yet.

The prime minister’s remark followed a statement by General Anantaporn Kanchanarat, an advisor to the prime minister and chairman of the committee tasked with following up and examining the spending of the government sector, that investigation result showed that there was no irregularity in the procurement of the expensive microphones but the devices were overpriced as there was a big margin of price differences.

The general however said that the party responsible for the procurement had already carried out a new procurement deal.

Prime Minister explained that it was not necessary that result would be known immediately after the completion of an investigation and there was procedure to follow.

He disclosed that three agencies were involved in the investigation of the case namely the Nation Audit Office, the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the committee to follow up and examine government sector.

Personallly, the prime minister said he didn’t need a microphone because his voice was loud enough and also it was not necessary for new newcoming cabinet to have a new set of microphones at the Government House.

He appealed for understanding of the party which procured the new microphones that they have good intention and they have wanted the Government House to be modern and well-equipped.

The country is on fire, riddled with all kinds of wrongdoings and corruption and they are stuck now on the overspending for the microphones.

A needle in the haystack.

There are more important issues to deal with, General.

The Burmese did it.

The anti-corruption crusaders have been caught out being corrupt.

Curious as to whether you were as dismissive of mere allegations against the Shinawatras let alone them actually getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar like the generals have been here?

The coup was never about ending corruption, that was just a cover (that far too many fools bought) to justify the power grab by the the elite to get their snouts back in the trough.

dear PM, please STFUp

and make some actions first

I remembered that you said that, being from a soldier background, you would make actions and then make reports.

Why has that changed to just making talks, talks and talks.

I used to like the fact that you are trying your best to help the country. (I still think so)

But please, don't end up as NATO (No Action Talk Only)

edit.... wrong link

How long would a simple investigation, such as this, really take.

Who was involved in the planning..?....Who made the final "buy" decision through company X?....Why did the Govt. pay ~130K instead of ~90K?

Should have been completed in 2 days!........these guys are trying to cover up again!!

Looks like the carpet is being lifted...!

"The general however said that the party responsible for the procurement had already carried out a new procurement deal."

Possible translation: As absolution for being caught in a corrupt purchase, the offenders redid the deal to avoid prosecution.

One has to wonder what possible connection to the NCPO that the procurement officials have that would allow such a form of "repentence" instead of openly facing a corruption charge?
