Lamb to the slaughter

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if a whole lamb can be bought around Chiang Mai for spit roasting?

An erstwhile friend suggested a place but it turned out to be a children's petting farm.

Rimping on the Maejo Road and Ring Road intersection had small ones a while back, as well as rabbit.

You want to slaughter the lamb yourelf, as your topic title implies?

His hand will be stayed in the nick of time by the hand of the Almighty Thaivisa God. He may become a prophet after all this....

Try Northern Farms.

I'm sure they'll prepare one for you, unless you want to do it yourself Halal style of course.

If you go to Rimping etc you could buy a bunch of lamb parts and reassemble them.

Let us know what you find out there.

Lamb is tasty

There is a small farm just north of the temple on the way to Huay Tung Thao reservoir that has a bunch of them grazing.

You can seen them from canal road as you pass the temple.

edit : I'm not real keen on the difference between goats and lambs and what is at that location.

I linked to the wrong facebook page above. There is no link. I believe that they still offer lamb and goat mostly to Chiang Mai's moslem community but of course, anyone is welcome to buy. Their goat milk products are on sale at Rim Ping supermarket. Can probably get phone number off of the packaging.

I've been looking for lamb (to roast) for 6 years. No luck - but we did look at a large number of children's petting farms suggested by well-meaning people.

And yes, we did end up at Tops or Rimping buying parts (strongly suggest Tops Festival's meat department for very nice and fresh rack of lamb).

Be ready to fork-out plenty for a whole Lamb at Rimping. I was in there yesterday and licked my chops as I gazed at the Lamb Rib Roast. Sure it was IMPORTED but at a price of near AUD$30 for the ribs, I hate to think what they'll want to slug you for the Whole Beast......even if it is locally grown.

Thanks everyone for your contributions. Following advice from here I checked with Horeca and they do have whole lambs (life is wonderful again). I will also give the Muslim goat farm a fly after the lamb. Thanks again.
