Sonographer, Ultrasound Specialist, doctor advice needed please

Featured Replies

Hi Please see attached my wife's recent ultrasound report,

2 things of concern, firstly worried whether the word "on" in the report should be "no" but lost in translation.

Secondly, the final impressions state "Normal Study" but then proceed with something like "meta Hepto.... Blah blah

Lt Kidney 305cm etc etc

Wife said the Doctor mentioned about Kidney stone but I'm confused with the report ???

Any advice from either a doctor or professional in this field would be most appreciated

Many Thanks

looked at it again - I think it says mild hydronephrosis left kidney .305 cm (should be 3.05 I suspect) +/- UA (urinalysis) LE (leukocyte esterase - which can indicate urinary tract infection).

Might I suggest you replace the image with one which doesn't show the patient's name.

It is showing mild hydronephrosis (dilatation) of the left kidney, which is usually due to obstruction as with stones. I can't read what it says after that

It would help to know the clinical context i.e. why the scan was done ,what her symptoms are.

For kidney stone first line of treatment is to push fluids and give pain killers in hope the stone will pass. If that fails, there are treatments to help break up the stones.
