I don't start anything because I am not that stupid to be cheering for any of the buffons from the 2 sides, but I do stand by democracy always even when I don't agree with the person that gets elected.

It's called: civilization. You may want to give it a try.

I do stand for democracy, BUT I am not that stupid to believe that you have to put up with a non democratic governing regime PTP. There has to be an interim/period to get back to a stable situation and that does not necessarily mean an election.

If it has to be done this army style OK, until the time comes to hand a stable situ back to the people.................Change Thai style democracy for normal democracy-------we have to wait and see. Army or whatever. It was given the top approval wasn't it not ??

democracy is always elections and letting voters decide anything else is not democracy.

sometime voters pick corrupted leaders, besides, I don't believe any politician in any country to be honest.

Please google "democracy" and stop saying you stand by democracy when you obviously don't.

Google does not differentiate between Thai style democracy and what you call real democracy.

So when voters pick corrupted leaders and that results in a catastrophic down turn--irreversible (PTP) then its ok. and nothing should be done, because that's democracy ???

Democracy is also Good governance.

Democracy is always elections ???

Any country has to be stable BEFORE any elections are held. Do you understand that ??? or in your world elections are the answer to any problem-----NO WAY.................clear example here.

Well there you have - Thai was stable...the elections were set up by....a junta.....ring any bells???

however you might want to define "stable" - apart from somewhere to keep a horse, any other definition should keep you puzzling for years....and the you'd probably get an unworkable solution.

apparently he was only allowed in after some debate and met with some pretty strong demos in Milan and then got a dressing down from the Japanese PM.

not much of this appears to be available on Thai TV.

but he got nice smiling photo-ops with other dictators from the region.

His aims and ideas are no different to those of the previous administrations apart from the fact the previous administrations efforts were aimed at self enrichment as opposed to national enrichment.

Thai history shows that there has not been a military government since 1932 which has not been primarily concerned with its own power and enrichment.

So an honest question: Why do you think the current one is different?

Yes! - See who he shakes hands with and note who avoided him.....

His aims and ideas are no different to those of the previous administrations apart from the fact the previous administrations efforts were aimed at self enrichment as opposed to national enrichment.

Those aims would then be very different, not no different. Lmao

How about the Swiss President?

(I didn't know he was an Asian dictator)

i know you are facetious but Swizz is not part of EU rolleyes.gif

Not facetious this time.

But keep reading and practicing. With practice you'll be better able to identify those posts that are or are not facetious.

As for the Swiss presence at the ASEM meeting, someone should inform the Swiss of your concerns.

Anyway, so much for the failed theory that he's only meeting Asian dictators.

a handshake and a meeting are not the same thing

Swizz has no need to be informed ...they know well they are not part of european union

LOL - a smiling photo-op and a snap-shot of a polite handshake are hardly the same thing.

Of course he is meeting more than just dictators, and no one except you used the word 'only'. He will certainly shake a few hands as he happens to be in a room full of diplomats and politicians. He couldn't help it if he wanted to. And certainly the supportive Thai press will be reporting on his great success at the meeting.

TBH - the fact that he was allowed to attend is actually already a success for him. But if the EU allows in the other dictators, how can the justify not letting him come, too?

I can appreciate you struggle with some basic education fundamentals, but look at the post I replied to.

It's this one:

Yes! - See who he shakes hands with

Now then, see why I replied about a handshake and not a meeting?

Moving on, in terms of the EU and ASEM... you can refer to the thread's title to discern which entity we are discussing.

It's this one:

ASEM

Hope this helps you get up to speed.

mhh ASEM meeting was open to countries not part of it

Australia foreign minister was attending the meeting

the NZ prime minister too
