Over 2,000 tourists flock to visit extinct volcano in Buriram

Over 2,000 tourists flocked to have a glimpse of the extinct volcano in Tambon Samed of Buriram's Muang district over the weekend.

The tourists walked on a rope bridge over the crater, which is about 265 metres above the sea level to enjoy the view and chilling weather.

Ronapop Narong, chief of the Kradong Volcano Park, said the number of tourists increased from about 500 a day on weekday to over 2,000 a day on the weekend. The park is now open to tourists from 6 am to 6 pm.

Any good pics of this?

Doesn't look worth the trip to form this photos Lop.

Have been there, is worth going to if you are in the area. The extinct volcano rising from the flat plain, you can see very far, rice fields interspersed with houses and trees in all directions. Wondering why it seems to get that many visitors now though, nice as it is I would classify it as a second rate tourist attraction.

Is this to support the new race track? Bet Indonesia is quaking in its boots!

How much does it cost for a "farang" to go see this attraction?

Double pricing in entrance fees, I suppose. Automatic pass.

Only 1,8 km from the Thunder Castle. Extinct volcanos can wake up.w00t.gif

Unless you were a real volcano buff, would tend to agree.

No Charge.

I live in the area and have been many times.

Steep climb up hundreds of steps, and a nice meandering walk back to base through the forest.

I'll bet that with the increase in popularity, an entrance fee will be introduced soon.

Worth the very occasional visit if you live nearby. Certainly not worth a special trip to see it.

Any takers for a dried-up waterfall on Koh Samui, just ten baht a head?
