Is that your predictions based on you own stats?

Does it take into consideration how well the Ivory Coast might do? coffee1.gif

Well everyone has the same stats to work with.

I have to say though that I dont really agree with the premise of fitting the statistical data to a normal distribution in football and then deriving confidence limits from them. In any case I dont attach as much weight to historical data as this guy inherently does.

But it isnt that far off.

I think that both Spurs and Chelsea will do better with Chelsea currently marginally ahead of of Spurs (although that is largely based on a subjective view that Chelsea will use January to buy themselves a break). I do agree with the basic conclusion that it is very much a two horse race. I think City will do marginally better and United marginally worse than the predictions. I dont think this takes into account Ivory Coasts performance but nor does it adjust for Fletcher/Vidic injuries. I imagine it is purely objective.

It will be good to look back on at the end of the season,i will be surprised if United only get 42 points from a possible 63! won't you? jap.gif

Well surprised is probably putting a bit strong. You are currently +2 on a ME basis and I expect you to finish +3 which would be 41 points from the remaining 63. Of course the difference between 41 and 42 points is less than the difference between a win and and a draw in an individual match, so I wouldnt really find that result surprising. There is nearly a 20% fixture bias in your matches during the second half of the season so I would be surprised if you you scored more points in the second half of the season than the first.

I respect his opinion especially with the stats he has at his disposal but common sense and years of following United tells me we will get more than a 66% return on 63 points, what do you think Mr Bo?

What do I think? Apart from the fact your going to implode biggrin.png

It does seem to be on the low side, considering your normal run in the 2nd half. However, i agree with the "bias" part and is what we have been saying here. You have played the majority of the bigger guns at home in the first half but now have to play them away. Time will obviously tell but it will be interesting.

We will get more than 42 points Abrak, trust me ok jap.gif

If you look at the bookies forecasts they are currently

City 88.5

Utd 86.5

Chelsea 76.5

Spurs 75.5

Arsenal 72.5

LFC 70.5

They must be anticipating some very big spending in january by Chelsea.

Very quiet today!

Bladdy hell Red, give me chance to get out of bed will ya.

If you want, I'll look in the United thread and see how much time had lagged before you posted after we slaughtered you !!

Fair dinkum to WBA, they probably deserved a point. We were trying to walk the ball into the net too much yesterday and never really got above a canter until half way through the second half.

Still top though.

Bit of pressure on you now to remain top at half way...rolleyes.gif

Absolutely smokes. But if you had told me at the start of the season we would be in this position, I would have laughed. So I am quite happy. Yes, we should have beaten WBA but you can't have it all your own way for a full season.

Personally, I think the pressure is more on United. We are still the underdogs and have never said that this was the year that we are going to win the league. United have been gobbing off too much i.e. noisy neighbours and they are now panicking that we are a real threat. Of course, they still have the experience of being in this position many times.

Do i sense the fear as the red tide increases?

Maybe the pressure is on us especially with ALL our injuries clap2.gif

I think United thrive on pressure and City wil lose it,did you see our team yesterday ? laugh.pngbiggrin.png

We have to have the happiest sets of fans on the forum at the moment mrboj....still a couple of games left this year for us but if we win those I will be absolutely delighted!

Regars the title race its certainly a two horse affair...I think it may come down to buying power in the end as it seems likely Tevez will leave....obviously that means you can sign someone else for a few billion quid. Maybe you can just buy the EU? biggrin.png

Nope. We've never underestimated what you are capable of. I think it's your lot who underestimate everyone else. Either that or you are all more arrogant than I first thought !!

,did you see our team yesterday ? laugh.png

Yeah. Well done. You beat a 10 man Wigan at home. Congratulations. biggrin.png

I forgot to add we'll be clear third. I'd hate to predict who'll win the donkey derby...

Oh go on then....Newcastle. biggrin.png

I think you will take 3rd, the way your playing. The only thing I'm not sure about is, what is your depth like in the event of a few injuries?

Been a lot of discussion about this. Replacements for Pav/Bassong and a right midfielder are what we need most now. Maybe cover at LB.

But really even with a couple of injuries we should be good for third....so long as its not Modric, Bale or Adebayor long term...

For your cover at left back, you could consider discussing the problem with City who have 7.

Wayne Bridge is apparently 7th choice and you might even get him on a loan.
