Where to buy swimming goggles with prescription lenses in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hi

My old swimming goggles are gradually getting rugged and strange on the inside resulting in poor visibility. Maybe too much use in the small but good pools that you find even in some moderately priced guesthouses in northern Thailand :)

I pass Bangkok soon. I called some sports shops but no one carried swimming goggles with prescription lenses. I found no phone numbers to Central World so maybe I go there and look.

Does any one know where to find swimming goggles with prescription lenses in Bangkok.

For those who have not seen them, they are sometimes found in sports shops with swimming profile. You don't test you eyes, you just choose a suitable pair. For me -4.50 on both sides would be fine.

Thanks

I got my diving mask cut with bifocals at Surawong Optical. (Surawong Road, about a block from Charoen Krung in Chinatown- 5-10 minute walk from BTS Saphan Taksin.

They also had swim goggles on display. It's been about a year, but the place looks like it's been in business forever.

Bring money. It ain't cheap. But the work was great, and he redid one lens that wasn't quite right- instead of trying to convince me it was like happens so often here....

Just called them. Like you say. At the right price they seem to make make good work. 2000-3000 baht for "simpler model" swimming goggles including eye sight testing.

Just if someone else needs: Super Sports in Central World had a good supply. 10% discount made the price 1080.

Only question is why my old pair developed a rugged opaque coating on the inside within one year. I rinse them after use and never touch inside.

An old trick, kind of last resort, is to polish with toothbrush and toothpaste. It has worked before, but these just got worse :(

Will maybe rinse new pair in mineral water inside.
