how to add IE icon to desktop in windows 8.1

Featured Replies

i'm setting up a new computer with windows 8.1 - didnt want to go 8.1 but my old computer died.

i'm trying to add an internet explorer icon to the desktop - sounds easy but believe me it isnt!

i've looked on google but cant find usable instructions.

can anyone help with plain english instructions?

many thanks for any help.

p.s. as a normal user i find 8.1 shockingly designed.

If you have it on the Metro screen...

Right click on IE > click Open file location > Right click on Internet Explorer > Click on Send to > Click on Desktop - Voila! You have it!

Edit

Windows 8.1 is not too bad. Daunting at first sight, within a couple of minutes you are fine.

Believe me.

You're right to be shocked, most people are, which is why they have gone back somewhat with Windows 10.

The Start Button and menu are back and Windowed Apps now have a close button.

I have Windows 8.1 but have added a start button. Now it's more like Windows 7.
