Hate to add fuel to the eblair angled posts about "Gaza destruction" looking state of certain beaches, but man, I was up at Surin Beach this last week and well, it is a mess. Take a left from the parking lot and every other building is a smashed out shophouse destruction scenario, really just terrible.

They need to just destroy the whole lot of buildings down to the end, clean it up and rebuild. But as it is now, who wants to go there? Surin hotels,Twinpalms, Manathai,Doubletree by Hilton, they have to be seething, their guests aren't coming back after seeing the state of things at the beach, probably outright checkout and go to a different part of the island, sad.

yep total toilet. the 5 star beach will impress the the holidayers. i believe this year may be phukets last chance to revive the euro market. eventually the cheap air will diminish to australia then there goes another large group of holidayers. you can only lie, deceive, excuses, promise, and what ever else comes out publicly.

nai harn is gradually turning back as well. restaurants already setting up tables and chairs on the beach side road. huge taxi stand with a garffiti logo saying taxi stand. dirty looking hole. nai harn the last beach that actually had a chance.

phuket 5 star prices, green eco, first class adverts... what you get is a 1 star shit hole at five star prices.

There's no money in actual clearing of the beach for the local gov't tea collector, so I'm sure this is a big middle finger up gesture to the NCPO for taking away their easy income. You'd think old Mary Ann would have some pride at least and order the beaches cleaned up in her area.

"phuket 5 star prices, green eco, first class adverts... what you get is a 1 star shit hole at five star prices." - I think this is why many are now going to Pattaya.

Pattaya is a "1 star shit hole" but you get the same product, beer, food etc as you would on Phuket, but at the appropriate 1 star shit hole price. :)

Well, when he's presiding over a place that has no businesses left to collect tea money from, maybe then, and only then, he will reflect on what went wrong. :)

The problem is, some beaches are a wreck, and others are in reaonable condition.

As word spreads, all the masses will converge on the nicer beaches, and they will become overpopulated and uncomfortable.
