PHUKET: -- A panel of marine tourism experts and conservationists, including award-winning dolphin documentary maker Ric O’Barry, will be leading a debate titled 'Phuket’s Marine Tourism – Challenges of Change' at the Outrigger Laguna Beach Phuket on Friday November 21.

All are welcome to join the debate organized by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Thailand to discuss how to 'brand Phuket' as a global marine tourism destination.

Special guest speaker Ric O’Barry from The Dolphin Project and producer of award-winning documentary The Cove will be joining the discussions via live video feed to give his views on the dolphinarium planned for Phuket, along with solutions on how to return the captured animals to the wild.

Local marine tourism industry experts on the panel include: SKAL President Claude Sauter; Asia Marine owner Vincent Tabuteau; renowned diving expert Khun Por Parusu Komaradat; and conservationist John Gray.

Natasha Eldred of Shine PR will be leading the discussions on the challenges and changes facing Phuket's marine tourism industry with a focus on building a good reputation for Phuket in the eyes of the international community. Topics will cover conservation of marine life and sustainable tourism, as well as yachting restrictions and pressures on the scuba diving industry.

Panel discussions begin at 4.30pm in the Similan Ballroom and will be followed by networking and drinks. All are welcome to attend. Admission for non-AMCHAM members is B100. To sign up for the forum visit www.amchamthailand.com or contact Khun Orn.
