The old lifeguard tower was taken down on Wednesday (November 5).

PHUKET: -- Plans to set up a new lifeguard tower this year at Kata Noi was approved by OrBorJor on Wednesday (November 5).

Prapaiwut Cheunyuan, Phuket life guard consultant, told The Phuket News, “We hadn't used the tower at Kata Noi tower for a while because the base of the tower was broken, so we couldn't store any of the equipment there.

“In patong last week, one of the safety surfboards was lost because there was no lock for the tower. We want to avoid anything like that from happening, so we hope to be able to store equipment in the new tower and keep it safe.”

OrBorTor chief Paiboon Upatising confirmed, “We have approved the plan for a new lifeguard tower to be built at Kata Noi. Construction plans will commence sometime this year.”

Am I missing something here ? Have lifeguard tower but not one Red Cross certified lifeguard ?

God, how parochial. Is this really news even in a "small" community like Phuket, or even in Kata Noi?

Surely there must be more happening than this. You know, like BIB enforcing prostitution laws etc.

Why is it that all I read is about what they are GOING to do and not what they have actually done! Propaganda at its best!
