stoopid question - but does she need a visit visa???

she does not yet have ILR status in the UK... although we will make the application in September... does having ILR for UK make any difference?

Northern Ireland is part of the UK. If she has a visa for the UK it covers Northern Ireland as well.

Don't stray over the border into the Republic, though!
