RC Flying Fields in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Ive been living in Bangkok for a while but I have not found a place to fly my radio controlled airplane. There used to be a field called Sawasdee somewhere, but I dont know if its still open.

Any RC flyers on the forum live in BKK and where do you fly? Im also into RC helicopters and RC cars and trucks, and Ive found a few places to drive my cars and buggies.

I see a few Thai guys set up an airfield behind Central on Rattanathibet. There is as little drag strip that the kids use to race bikes as well, but most days they use it as a runway. The other day they had make shift wind socks all over the field and a bunch of people there.

Get on www.rcthai.net and you can find forums for all the fields anywhere in Thailand.

There is also a club that gets together near a market area just north of bang bua thong

There is a hobby shop there that specialties in remote control helicopters and planes.

But I noticed they are not cheap they are professional or meaning not kids toys at those prices .

There is a field there were I watch them fly there helicopters sand planes some of them are really good at it

Weekend are really busy there you might enjoy it the Thais there seem very friendly

Many years ago in another life I used to make and fly RC planes

Don't have the time or resources now but that does not stop me from occasionally looking wistfully at hobby sites wink.png

Came across a RC Catalina flying boat that can take off and land on water as well as the usual grass w00t.gif

How COOL is that thumbsup.gif

There is a "flying field" behind Seacon Square, in Srinnagarin road; it's actually the parking lot on the back and people go there to fly on the weekends early in the morning.

Appreciate that this post is nearly four years old but does anybody have any upto date information?

I am looking for a field as close to Bangkok as possible and on the Eastern side.

I would like to fly a petrol fixed wing plane

Don Muang Flying club,  Detchtungha,  SiKan .  Not sure if it is open to members or just RTAF folk. Held a lot of meets and international flying festivals. Not interested myself but used to live nearby and take my son for a look when he was a youngster.
