What is your Favorite sushi restaurant in CM. Mine was sushi box at the harbour mall but they closed a year ago since than I couldn't make out a new good and most important reasonable priced sushi restaurant. Any hints?

My favorite Japanese place stopped doing sushi and sashimi unfortunately, but they still do the other basics, which is mostly what I eat anyway. I too am looking for a new sushi place that is not overly expensive. I haven't eaten sushi anywhere else for a few years.

Oh didn't know sushi box had another location will try next time I come down from the mountains - I liked their reasonable priced 399 buffet ordered from the menue

The little tiny restaurant called 'Sun Tori' on the north side of the moat. The chef goes deep sea fishing three days a week for the fish that he sells on the other four days. Freshest sashimi and sushi in town!

According to the sign out front, it is 349, unless that was only for lunchtime.

That's the price all day. This is the remnants of the Sushi Box that used to be at the Harbor. According to the owner business at the Harbor was great when it first opened, then it crashed. I think it's good sushi, but I'm no expert.

The last time I checked, a couple of weeks ago, they also had a beer buffet. I don't remember the details.

Yes great sushi and sashimi and as you say fresh - Lunchtimes 120 Baht for Sushi, 100 for sashimi, comes with pickled vegetables and a small bowl of miso/seafood soup and tea. They have a more extensive menu in the evening but I haven't tried it.

But for the story with the deep sea fishing nearly not believable in CM wink.png

The owner heads down to the Bangkok to do his fishing.

That's why he's closed 3 days a week.

Been here 8 years now and have never eaten sushi - except once in Bangkok. (Sushi up in the mountains doesn't seem appetizing to me). But this one place I would like to try.

The flavors of sushi vary greatly... From fish to fish, and from freshness to less than fresh. One or two days can make or break the good tastes, turning them into something rather ordinary. When we lived in Japan, we'd buy our fish for sushi and sashimi while it was still swimming, picking a fish out of the large tanks found in all of the better Japanese supermarkets. The counter man would scoop it out, clean it, and fillet it in just a minute or two. Often in sushi restaurants there, the fish would be filleted and sliced, put back on the carcase and served to you while the gill were still flapping. THAT is fresh! The stuff served on most of the Japanese restaurants in Chiang Mai is... not quite as fresh. I won't say 'spoiled,' but I will say 'long time no sea!' This place is different. And they do NOT serve imitation crab. The fish they sell has been caught just a day or two before, either by the chef himself, or by fishermen that he's been doing business with for years. He has a much greater variety of fish for his sushi and sashimi too. Tuna, Sea Bream, Horse Mackerel, Yellow-Tail, eel, sea urchin, Ark Shell, and more.

It's nice to go to a place that sells sushi and sashimi, and NOT be served salmon, imitation crab, and plain mackerel!

Tenguko opposite Dhara Dhevi for a great treat ...Fuji works for a regular run too smile.png

It should be Tengoku Restaurant. It is a little pricey but the quality is undeniably good! Their Salmon sashimi is unresistable for several servings if you opt for the a-la-carte buffet.

Fuji serves pretty decent quality Japanese food but imo not that worth the price. Tsunaimi has very good value for money menu spread!

I finally found this place this morning, but no raw fish left! The waitress told me they going fishing tomorrow and will be back on Saturday - as previously reported.

Anyone know where Kitchen Hush is in relation to Bake and Bite of the Floral Condo? I'm pretty sure that is close by, but have never seen it when in the neighborhood.
