Where ?

Yes, was just wondering the same. Don't forget 7/11 provides hot water :)

Chinese tourist main meal.

They call room service requesting boiled water.

Yes, Phuket has come to this.

Looks like the machine has a hot water dispenser built-in.

I went in to a 7-11 in Bang Lamung, 10km outside of Pattaya the other day.

There were a bunch of Chinese tourists in there, hanging out in the aisles, chatting in groups in the free air-con. Not quite sure how they ended up there but there are a couple of way-out hotels within a km or so. They were on foot.

A couple actually bought some things, a load of processed snacks and the obligatory noodles. There was then a long delay as notes and coins of various currencies were examined.

Welcome to the future.

Yes Valentine, I read somewhere that in Korea, they are seeing serious health problems from longterm consumption of this type of product.

Whilst getting my degree, college student with no dough I consumed this type of thing regulalrly, but in the last 20+ years, maybe one of these.

Good feeling, to see the 7/11 staff facial expressions brighten up when serving you as a farang after having handled the group of Chinese.

There's a pretty good sized supercheap on my daily route, and inevitably I see a large coach parked outside while the Chinese punters go inside to get some noodles and beer before their 10 minute boat trip to Coral Island. Vichit Speedway is now Vichit little Beijing with hundreds of coaches coming and going on a daily basis chock a block with Chinese instant noodle lovers.

Phuket is getting what it deserves.

Went for big arrival numbers above sustainability.

Its depressing to see bus after bus clogging the roads.

Go check out Royal Phuket city hotel in the mornings. It's little china with buses lined up waiting to take their victims to latex and jewellery shops.

If you want one of these buses to bring a group to your establishment? Be prepared to cough up 40% commission to the operator or miss out.

It is a shame that people consume those instant noodles in a country with so much very good cooked soups on offer.

The young Chinese will not be learning to cook thanks to processed foods just like the rest of the modern world.

Shame

"MAMA Noodles will kill you." - they are certainly killing the restaurants here.
