To all those living in Phuket whom the new NON ED visa rules apply (from 29/08/14): you still have to pay 1,900 baht every 3 months (before, only report your address) but you get 30 days stamp on your passport where you will have to report on expiry date (no fee and school paper). You will get 60 days at the end of which you will need further extension with school papers.

The immigration will extend your visa on submission of following paper:

- copy of house rental contract or tabien baan;

- copy of passport and TM6 (included visa and previous extensions);

- map of your house address;

- school papers (attendance sheet will have to indicate 5 days/week 2 hours each);

As Phuket Town immigration office is reorganizing, you still have to go upper floor, pick up your number and form to fill. However, service time has changed: submit your paper between 8:30/11:30 and pick up your passport after 14:30. Submit after 13:00 and pick up your passport next day from 10:30.

Wow they need all of those things??? Does Chaeng Wattana need a "copy of house rental contract" & a "map of your house address" too?

Why is it 10hrs a week in Phuket while BKK is apparently 8hrs a week?

Where do you get the information that the class attendance should be 10 hours / week in Phuket?

According to that post:

“We will go after foreigners who never come to class. Those people are likely to be breaking the law,” he said.

However, Col Sunchai added that his office will not be enforcing a mandatory minimum number of hours that any foreign student must attend each week.

The info of 5 days/week attendance is a must requested by the immigration officer at the desk if you want everything going smooth at this stage and this was confirmed by a meeting that school owners had last week with the Ministry of Education.

My school went to the same meeting and confirm the above is what my school reported also. The new hours have yet to go into effect at my school yet as they said they are in the process of updating their syllabus.

I think its time something official was released about these change as it seem to be one set of hours for phuket, another for bkk and at present going by just wallen school website for reference the rest of Thailand is unchanged so far.
