Strange Airplane Movements

Featured Replies

Hi,

Did anyone notice the strange airplane movements today around 6 PM. The plane (not a Bangkok Air one) started to land several times but each time it went up again, flew round, tried again. After 3 or 4 times it actually landed but departed again after about 5 minutes.

Not a big matter but I am just curious about it.

It may have been a pilot under training or certification doing touch and goes.

Probably a member of the Thai Royal Family who visited the island. He is known to fly the aircarft himself. Happened many times before.

That also explained the police at the airport.

And the blocked roads around the airport.

It is the personal aircraft of the Prince. He flies it himself as a qualified pilot. A number of approaches and overshoots were made to the Final Approach fix and to both ends of the runway.

The aircraft is a B737-400 and is the only one of its kind allowed to operate into Samui as it operates within weight limitations.
