I need to renew my retirement visa on 16th December.
Have 3 questions (couldn't find in the forum history):

1. Is there any time frame before and after the final date.
2. Will it count from the issuing date excactly 1 year? Even if I do it bevore or after the final date?
3. Can my bank branch at immigration building issue me the necessary account statement for my 800K? Or do I have to get it only at my local bank?

Thanks

My thoughts on your questions, before you get the real answers from people who know more than I do:

1. You may go to extend your permission to stay 30 days before it expires (some offices allow 45 days before, check with your office). If your extension expires before you attempt to extend your permission to stay, you are on overstay. In other words, that is not allowed.

2. My understanding is that you get a new period of permission to stay starting as of the date when the current permission ends. So if you go 30 days early to ask for an extension you basically get 30 days + 1 year. No penalty for going early then.

3. I would expect that the bank branches in the immigration office building are well versed in writing the immigration letter. The branch bank in the immigration office building would have access to your information so I don't see why it wouldn't issue you the required letter.

I recently renewed my extension of stay at Khon Kaen immi. To avoid the hassle of proving my residence....signed blue book copies of landlord and 2 witnesses etc...I changed the reason from marriage to retirement. And indeed the whole procedure was far simpler and I got my extension and re-entry permit after about 1 hour.

At home I saw that the extension was dated from the date of renewal and not when the original extension expired;

2 weeks lost, no big deal. A slip up by immi., or due to the change from marriage to retirement status?
