PATTAYA: -- On Sunday Night, Police and rescue services were called to a popular Shopping Mall in Central Pattaya to deal with a suspected suicide of a shop worker, who is thought to have jumped from a high floor of their car park.

The incident occurred on Floor 5 ½ of the car park at Central Festival Pattaya Beach, just before 8pm and resulted in the death of a shop worker, Khun Nottanan aged 26.

The victim is thought to have jumped from the car park on the Pattaya Second Road side of the Shopping Mall.

To avoid major traffic congestion and undue distress caused to shoppers and members of the public, Police decided to allow the victim to be immediately removed from the scene after it was confirmed he had died.

Why is it always so quickly assumed to be a suicide? Are the police now performing autopsies on the spot and have medical degrees? Sometimes telltale bruising, that might indicate the person was pushed or involved in a struggle, does not show up right away.

Oh sure. Don't upset anyone by having even a preliminary investigation at the scene.

The way these things are treated really annoys me. Just scrape up the person and ensure shoppers can go on their merry way.

RIP

Unbelievable how superficial the death of a "simple" worker (guard) is dealed with.

Don't disturb the shoppers.

In comparision the other extreme:

Just watched a news report about a trivial traffic accident from my last home Berlin.

Car with drunken driver hits a bus, no fatalities, noone seriously injured. All obvious.

What police do: hour long closure of a major boulevard, using their latest toy: 3D scanner etc. bla bla.

Thai Woman Jumps To Her Death At Pattaya Mall
By Khaosod English

CHONBURI - A Thai woman has jumped to her death at a landmark shopping mall in the resort town of Pattaya.

Police say they received the alert about a woman plunging from the fifth floor of Central Festival Pattaya at around 0.30 am today. The victim was dead by the time rescue workers arrived at the scene, police told reporters.

The deceased has been identified as Nattanan Sirisawasdi, a 26-year-old woman from Buriram province. Police have ruled her death as a suicide.

The incident reportedly took place when there were many tourists in the area.

Why is it always so quickly assumed to be a suicide?

To avoid traffic problems

Yes they don't want to block the tourists from getting into Central and spending their Money

Pattaya one says HE, Khaosod says SHE.

Seems like the confusion extends to the timing of the incident.

Pattaya One - just before 8pm

Khaosod - at around 00.30am

No wonder that people have very little trust in Thai press reports if such easily obtainable facts are incorrectly reported.

Why is it "always" so quickly assumed by certain posters to be a conspiracy?

Read the report and you will see that the body was removed to a hospital for a postmortem to be performed.

Perhaps witnesses indicated that there was nobody else involved?

Ironically, there seems to be some mistaken identity here...(1) the nationality of the deceased... this is not the way to demonstrate "Thainess" or to spread happiness to the people (2) "Police have ruled her death as a suicide." subsequent to "jumping" from the 5th floor... no description of the witness on the 5th floor at the same time, who saw her "jump".... and a little difficult to ascertain from 17 metres or so below....

Maybe it was the Myanmar maid who hiked the ID of her Buriram employer??!!

Oops, sorry, did not mean to do the RTP work....

The man is called Nottanan, the woman is called Nattanan. Go figure. blink.png

Easy to figure out, English language interpretation of a Thai name.
