Bangkok: Porsche-Ferrari 'racing' ends in crashes

Hard to say with surety from those pics, but my guess would be he clipped the front of the Toyota with his rear as he was trying to squeeze his way ahead of it in the next lane, sending him into a spin.

The trouble with fast cars is they're built for survivability rather than repairability, with sacrificial zones, so damage is typically worse even if you don't end up upside down.

Do you have to take driving lessons when purchasing a car in this kind of performance bracket? Or do you just get the keys and allowed to go?

Didnt they say it was an illegal registration on the Ferrari as well

"Didnt they say it was an illegal registration on the Ferrari as well?"

Pol.Lt. Jiranan Thongchanglek, an officer at Highway Police, said Jirapat's insurance company has agreed to pay for all of the damages to the Toyota. She added that police have determined the Ferrari to be legally-registered.whistling.gif

Looking at the pic of the Toyota Yaris, it is hard to believe this is the vehicle involved in a frontal crash. Only the bumper came off?? Not a shard of glass, no broken lamps or crumpled Bonnet lid!!!! Strange!!!!

Guessing it was just clipped by the Ferrari (or vice versa) - enough to send them both (the Ferrari for sure) out of control. The kid was lucky his Ferrari didn't come down inverted on his (numb)skull.

He admitted that he was driving at "a very high speed," but insisted that crash took place because another car stopped in front him suddenly,....

Idiot.
He brings not only himself, but other innocent people in danger.

Driving License revocation for at least 2 years.

At least 100 duty hours in an emergency hospital or in an ambulance.
Give him time to collect brain residues and torn legs and arms from the streets,
so he can learn what reckless driving means.

Renewed driving license exam only with IQ test.
Maximum fine.

Hopefully the other driver sued him for psychological damages to millions.

Ahhhhh.....a fellow Ferrari driver............

Bad luck, mate, unfortunately that Yaris had to be there, otherwise you could have shown this Porche driver that his car is just a lot of garbage.

That depends on what Porsche it was, notice there a a few 'RUF' Porsche here......... that would then show the Ferrari driver that his car is just a lot of garbage..

Not sure where this comes into it ?? paper say's totaled his 10-million baht Ferrari ? maybe is a copy ? or a heap of junk that is why he could not stop in time ?

cheapest Ferrari here is 23 million up to 39 million !!

Edit: looks like the F430 spider, costing 24 million, maybe 10 million is the value the Insurance will give ?

Not true, who said it bought it brand new? Considering the 430 is a few years old already, I doubt it very much.

Looking at the photo, the Yaris must have been traveling in reverse when it was hit. or was it parked on the other side of the road. if it was then looking at the damage, the other car could not have been traveling too fast.

looks like the yaris front bumper had been unscrewed and placed carefully on the side of car , as you so stated car might not have been traveling at high speed if it had then the yaris would have been obliterated. Brain dead fool goof.gif

Admit zero experience with a Yaris, but the Prius and Camry hybrids that I have been driving lately have no screws in the bumper/nose. All plastic and held on (just) by clips.

not strange at all......... few years ago a guy in a new CRV went to overtake a bus, [said he did not even see me] he just touched the back bumper of my new 2008 D-Max, his whole front end bumper came off, tiny little mark on the D-Max end of back bumper, easy rubbed of without a scratch or mark

now a day the front bumpers on cars falls off very easy

Saw the Ferrari on it's roof hanging over the concrete motorway barrier down the road was the Yaris, further down the road was a Porsche and a Lambo. Not sure what they were doing parked on the side of the motorway?

The car in front braked suddenly, as they do on motorways. Cant figure how the Yaris sustained front end damage.

"...but [he] insisted that crash took place because another car stopped in front him suddenly, forcing him swerve and crash into the Toyota."

Always excuses, excuses, excuses. Another obscure car allegedly "stopped suddenly" (on the highway!) without the Ferrari idiot having enough time to slow down, because - as a local motorist - he is of course not familiar with the term "safety distance".

There was another story on TV today about some 30% of Thai children allegedly facing delayed mental development. To me it seems, Mr. Jirapat belongs into that group also, because even as a 25-year-old he still behaves like an immature 14-year-old.

Fortunately, the driver of the Yaris was only "slightly injured". It is all too often because of idiot road racers like Jirapat that innocent people have to die.

How did he hit a Toyota Yaris on the front end if he was driving on a highway?

100 baht fine and released ... stay classy Thailand ... Is this the inspiration for "Discover Thainess"?

He's been charged with reckless driving. Fine or whatever punishment yet unknown.

Simply unbelievable that he is going to get away with this. And the PM wants to cut the road toll. But, has he got the guts to enforce the strong hand of the law against a so called 'hi so's son'.

'Gets away with it.'

Jumping the gun a bit with your comment?
