McDonald's Japan says plastic in McNugget not linked to Thai plant

TOKYO (Reuters) -- The operator of McDonald's in Japan and Cargill Inc have not discovered any link between a Cargill-owned plant in Thailand and a strip of plastic found in a chicken nugget this month that sparked uproar over product safety at the fast-food chain.

McDonald's Holdings Co (Japan) and Cargill said in separate statements Wednesday that an investigation showed the type of plastic found in the McNugget on January 3 by a customer in Misawa, northern Japan, was not used at the plant in Saraburi, where the food was produced.

"We are very confident that the plastic film in the nugget occurred outside our production plant," Chuck Warta, president of Cargill Meats Thailand, said in the statement.

Seriously!! One customer found a piece of plastic in his nugget, and this exciting story stays in the headlines for more than a week!!rolleyes.gif

Hmm I wonder how that piece of plastic film could NOT be from the plant manufacturing the nugget item from the gooey chicken mass. rolleyes.gif

Ditto JOC, this crap happens all over the world everyday - not a rare occurance - too bad it wasn't in the States, as the person would've sued McD faster than speed of light, in hope of a million or two w00t.gif

I seem to have got this story wrong I thought it was about someone finding actual food in the plastic Mc Donalds serves up.

" 'We are very confident that the plastic film in the nugget occurred outside our production plant,' Chuck Warta, president of Cargill Meats Thailand, said in the statement."

The validity of an accusation has a tendency to be in direct proportion to the intensity of the denial. wai2.gif wai2.gif wai2.gif

Damn !!!.... I need plastic in my Nuggets!!

they charge extra for the plastic in mcnuggets in tiajuana

Verdict isn't in yet, but....

As has happened many a time from a person seeking compensation, the plastic might not have come from anywhere but the "customer" who found it.

I wonder how much that statement cost the supplier ...

Hope they had cctv installed in that mcdonalds .....

Looks like someone has watched a rerun of My Name Is Earl (remember Joy finding a moustache hair in McDonalds?) And hoping for a payout.

Once I found a human finger in my Big Mac. When I bit into it, it hurt like he!!; it took almost a month to heal.
