WhatsApp now available on your desktop

The popular messaging app WhatsApp can now be used on your desktop, via an extension in the Chrome web browser, according to an announcement made on the WhatsApp blog.
By being available in your web browser, rather than being a separate desktop application, your WhatsApp account will still be managed from your phone.
WhatsApp Web works by mirroring the data from your phone to your desktop, meaning you’ll still need a data connection to your smartphone for the desktop version to work.
It does, however, provide an easy way of messaging via WhatsApp using your keyboard from your desktop.
