It's hard to import a vehicle from Canada to the US,

Different emisson standards, bumper heights, automatic headlights with engine start, metric speedo, etc.

From Thailand with RHD to US? Why would anyone want all the hassle

Sell here, buy a new one in the US

There's emissions control on a motorcycle? That's news to me? Probably to a lot of other folks too.

Yup. Don't even try importing a 2 stroker, (or, in my case, 2 stroke engines). Ask me how I know that.

I'm pretty sure different states have different emissions requirements, if you import into Ca for example it is going to be far more restrictive. There are plenty of 2 stroke engines here including scooters that have no emissions standards any different then any other country.

Not a good idea. for most of the reasons already posted. Pay 50k for a 12k truck.

I was too, the back seat of my Granada...........giggle.gif ...................laugh.png

Probably would not be allowed to be registered - emissions related.......

Izuzu is a dead brand name in the US......getting service and parts would be tough.....

Being a car guy , I would say almost impossible ,

if its over 25 years old then I think you get a 1 time exemption ,

But newer cars and trucks need current smog and safety equipment

and a crash test !

and I am not sure if there is still a 25% import duty on imported trucks which started in 1970s called the "chicken tax"

if it was a Ferrari or something worth big $$$$ and very low production I think there are easier rules

if you want the "look" of a Thai Dmax then maybe the front sheetmetal will fit on a USA truck ......

better to sell it in Thailand and buy another truck in the USA....

most of the scooters are less than 50cc so do not need anything ,

but most new 2 strokes are now banned even leaf blowers !

Again, where are you speaking of since every state has their own emissions standards. The Federal standards are a guideline for producing or importing new vehicles and don't necessarily apply to a single personal import not for immediate resale but for personal use. We're way off track here.. As for leaf blowers I just bought one the other day and have 2 weed eaters purchased within the last 2 years that are all 2 stroke.

If you can even decipher these sites, best of luck...

Key point: Be skeptical of claims by a foreign dealer or other seller that a vehicle meets these standards or can readily be brought into compliance. Vehicles entering the United States that do not conform with U.S. safety standards must be brought into compliance, exported, or destroyed.

There are quite a few businesses that specialize in importing foreign vehicles. Mostly, they focus on specialty, classic and high end vehicles. They don't work cheap.
