Why Is It You Hardly Hear A Good Whistler Anymore

Featured Replies

The sad news that Ronnie Ronalde passed away a couple of days ago prompted the thought that one hardly ever hears people whistling tunefully anymore. When I was a lad, blokes whistled while they worked, walked and whenever a happy moment brought on the urge.

The following was a favourite of my dear old dad - let's hear it for the whistlers of the world.

I whistle all the time. I whistle while I work; I whistle at hot legs in heels (carefully); I whistle for a taxi.

But I rarely here anyone whistling anymore. I have never heard a Thai whistle. In fact, they are always amused when I call my dogs, and they come running.

The dogs, not the Thais.

Now that you mention it, I too can't remember hearing a Thai whistle.

Which reminds me of the famous Lauren Bacall line ...............

It turns out, after a bit of research, that there are whistling championships.

(They do tend to pull some extraordinary faces whilst practicing their art.) whistling.gif

...I have never heard a Thai whistle...

Whistling in Thailand = calling the ghosts...

Stop it, it's annoying, like people who soliloquize.

I have a neighbour, never seen, who whistles when he comes home from work. At six ish.
