Buying a guitar. Anyone recommend a solid music store?

Featured Replies

Looking for a new Fender Strat but want to avoid ending up with a fake. Also helps if they have a guitar tech on staff. If anyone can recommend an honest music store, I would greatly appreciate it. PM is fine.

I see stores all over town but I've never bought anything locally so I don't know if there are any I should avoid.

Two good addresses: www.ctmusicshop.com (huge selection) and www.m-musicthai.com. Both sell only the real thing. Don't forget Squier (by Fender) is a very good alternative for Fender. I will buy a Squire Precision bass soon. Excellent value for the money paid.

Here is a straight link to Fender for m-musicthai. Here a link to all electric guitars. It's not an easy site to navigate. If I compare prices between ctmusicshop and m-musicthai I find that you pay somewhat less with the latter.

They have decent prices....Bought a Yamaha F-310 with case for 3590 Baht...shipping to my home was free. They have two stores in BKK. Give them a call.......

I've personally done a lot of purchasing at Maximum Sound, a music store just a couple doors down from MIW on Changklan road. Somsak, the owner, speaks excellent English and carries a good selection of name-brand guitars, amps and accessories. Not sure what they've got in stock by way of Fenders, but I've purchased strings, straps and a pedalboard there, all name-brand and definitely not fakes.

There's also a store in Central Festival mall that carries very high end gear - Taylors, Martins, Gibsons and the like. I haven't been in to the store to peruse the goods or chat up the owners, but have definitely walked past and had to wipe a bit of drool off my chin.

Thanks all, that was exactly the sort of info I was looking for.

Will post pics of my new baby when I get her.
